I had both appraised because I wasn’t able to get insurance for them without an appraisal.

The jewelry store gave my husband a written appraisal with both of my rings. You will need that to add them to your insurance policy.

We needed to before getting them insured. My husband had my ring appraised & insured prior to even proposing, the minute it was finished being made.

Exactly this. My ring was a family heirloom so it didn't come with any paperwork and to get it insured you need an appraisal or equal paperwork.

Mine came with the appraisal paperwork. If it hasn't been appraised already I'd still do it - it's awkward but you'll need it for insurance purposes!

So I told my FH that I am going to get my ring appraised, and to my surprise he gave me the paperwork with the insurance paperwork and told me it was done when he had it made All I need to do is let him know if anything happens to it but at the same time make sure nothing happens to it. lol

I suppose it depends on the ring. My moissanite on titanium rings were a bit lower on the cost scale and we arent looking to insure them so there isnt much point in having them appraised. More expensive rings that require insurance have to be appraised so it all depends.

All rings have been appraised, and the jeweler was able to provide these documents for our wedding bands when we purchased them - I honestly don't know the cost of my engagement ring and hadn't asked, so I was able to have the jeweler fax the form directly to my insurance contact!
