Right dress, wrong design

Rebecca, on November 23, 2019 at 11:19 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 5
Hi everyone!
I am looking for feedback on an issue I am having with my wedding dress. I went to a boutique in April and purchased my Maggie Sottoro dress. It came in about three weeks ago and I realize that the back is a different design. I thought that it was due to the seamstress, however I found out that it was due to the designer. A new one was ordered and I was told it would be the correct one. I went today to do the new alterations and just found out that the company switched manufacturers and that this is the new design. My wedding is a week away. Why would I just now found out about this? Has anyone else had issues like this? I am now paying full price for a dress that has been used in the store for brides to try on and I am not receiving a brand new dress with the original design for my wedding. I am getting no reimbursement on the dress as I paid full price in April. Trying to determine if I should take this further with the boutique or with the company. Any thoughts are welcome!

Oh this sounds soooo messy! I’ll be so upset. I think is not the boutique’s fault however they needed to know about this

Oops this posted without being complete.
I think you should contact the boutique and say this happened and is not fair but you should also contact the designer. Your wedding is in a week and you don’t need extra stress so enjoy it for now and deal about this after. In the end you’re wearing the design you want and not the new one so that’s a positive!
    Good luck.

I would reach out to the dress company and if needed make sure the salon is willing to back you up but they should give you some refund if you end up wearing a “used” dress.

Hey Rebecca! I’m so sorry that this is happening!!

I definitely think that you should take this further with your bridal salon. If you ordered your dress from them, then it should be the dress that you ordered and should be in new. If you paid full price for a dress that you did not receive, then some reimbursement should be issued. Do you know whether the bridal salon was aware that the design of the dress was changed before you found out?

    What?! That is messed up.

I'd contact both the salon and the designer. I feel like the salon is at fault for not communicating this and not offering you a discount if you are purchasing the sample dress (they are going to need to get a new sample anyway if the back design is different now, so you should be paying sample dress pricing). I'm not sure the designer will be able to help much, but perhaps they can connect you with your original dress at a different salon or something.

Ultimately, this is not ok. So sorry you are going through this!
