Rhodium plating on ring - questions!!

Rhodium plating question!!

I went to Jared to inquire about having my ring dipped before the wedding which is in less than two weeks. They originally told me that it would cost about $55 and I could pick it up same day, which is why I wanted to take it there - I don’t wanna leave my ring anywhere. After she took it to the jewelry repair people to have them look at it she came back and told me that they were also going to have to charge me $65 additionally because when they dip a ring they also have to tighten all the stones in the ring because the dipping process can loosen the stones. I have never heard of this before and I’ve never had this happen to any other rings I’ve owned. I just wanted to ask all of you your thoughts and make sure I’m not being taken advantage of. If it’s typical than that’s great and I’ll pay it, I certainly don’t want any of my diamonds to fall out of my ring lol, especially right before the wedding. My ring is a pavè setting and has lots of small diamonds in it - I’ll post a picture below. We decided to wait until next week when we are closer to leaving for the wedding to have it done so I didn’t leave it with them today.

I don't know if rodium plating would loosen your stones but I do know that the cleaning and polishing process that takes place after the plating could cause the stones to loosen. While I think 65 on top of 55 is quite a bit to pay, you should get your stones checked at least once a year anyway to make sure you won't lose any. I would see if they can do both things for under 100. Did you buy your ring from them? If not, I'd check with the specific jeweler you purchase it from (or others in your area) to see if they can offer a better price. When I had my ring cleaned for my wedding, I took it to a local jeweler who didn't charge me anything since it was a quick job. You may have better luck with a smaller business than a chain store.
