Rhinestone Photo Frames *completed*

Tanesh, on November 1, 2013 at 3:15 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 12

Ok, so this is my first DIY project for the wedding. I'm pretty excited but I need help. Does anyone know how to make the rhinestone photo frames? I've seen prices for $50 for 4 or 5 of them. I am sure I can do it myself for a lot less. Plus, other costs are really adding up!

HELP!? I'm thinking photo frame, rhinestone from Michael's and glue. Any tips?

UPDATE***Photo frames from Dollar Tree, Rhinestone Ribbon from Michael's at 4.99 per roll (needed 5), and glue dots $5!***

I just can't figure out how to post pics of my final product ugh! But they are sooo cute!

I wouldn't use glue. I'd use thin glue dots or strips of double sided tape.

Price everything out before you commit. Supplies can be $$$.

Joann's sells those rhinestones on a roll.

It looks like a fun DIY to me.

Def do the strips of rhinestones it will save you a ton of time. If the strip you get doesn't come with an adhesive already on the back (some do & some don't) E6000 is the best glue to use. You can get it at Michael's and JoAnn's and pretty much any craft store. Wal-Mart actually sells it too.

Edit: for a strip of stones, hot glue will be more difficult to work with. I only use E6000 when I rhinestone.

I was gonna say the same thing as Paris above... you buy those rhinestones on a roll like that. You could hot glue them on there. Those glue dots don't stick very well in humidity, depending on where you are.

My only concern with making them yourself is getting the cut pieces to sit flush with each other on the corners of the frame. Go slowly, the cut will need to be precise in order to make the rhinestones look like there are no gaps.

Think about what you will do with them after the wedding: give them as favors/prizes, use them at home, sell them, gift them to another bride.

Thanks ladies!! I will be sure to price them out first. I need about 17. I will post pics when I complete them, in the next 2 weeks or so.

Tanesh: this is one of my DIY. I would love to see how yours came out. I bought frames from Dollar Tree too and some rhinestone ribbon from Michael's.

I am definitely going to do this for my wedding. I have the rhinestone ribbon now all I need is the glue choice and some frames. I think I will try it out first with a hot glue gun to see how that works since I already have one and glues sticks so that will be an expense I won't have to worry about.

Very pretty! What kind of frames did you use? Does it have to have no borders like acrylic picture frames?
