Reviews for "Wedding Snap" photo app for smartphones

Faith, on April 10, 2012 at 11:57 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 13

Hello!

The Knot has a deal today that is offering a discounted price for an app I've never heard of called "Wedding Snap." It's an app that lets guests download the app to their phones and take pics of your weddig and upload them directly to your own personal online wedding album. They can also upload pics from their digital cameras directly into this album.

I've never heard of this before, but it sounds like a great idea (no fussing with disposable cameras, etc). Has anyone used this service before and could provide some feedback? Are there other similar services out there that you would recommend?

Thanks!

You bet! After a little research, it seems like there are a few other apps out there that you can create that will provide all of the info contained in the invitations. The problem is, these apps are a great deal more expensive (between $229-349)!

The 2 main apps you can buy to create your own wedding app seem to be:

    - ourweddingapp.com ($299)

    - yourweddingapp.net ($299-349, depending on if you want to be able to include a photo upload)

-Yapp - just launched and is now accepting invites, for which you have to be approved, and I'm not sure about cost

And it seems that the Knot has an app called "Wedding 911" which is just a general wedding planning app that you can use for research.

There seem to be several wedding planning apps out there. Here's a good article that outlines a few of them: http://www.wtop.com/?nid=41&sid=2464814.

We are just using a photosharing site and we had business cards made with instructions on how to upload them. Those were through Vistaprint and free. In my opinion, cameras take better pictures than phones so I'd rather have those pictures.

@Lala- that's not a bad idea. The Wedding Snap app also supports digital camera photos, if people prefer using a camera over their phone.

I wouldn't bother paying for the app when it can be done for free using photo sharing sites.

I don't remember who, or what app, but I know i saw a post that someone had bought an app but no one used it. At least with free ones you aren't out the money if people don't use it.

I have used the wedding snap app and its pretty good. It was simple enough my grandparents could use it.

@Shellie, the problem I have noticed with photo-sharing sites are that most people don't follow through on uploading the photos to the right album or area. I like to create the least amount of friction as possible. Wedding snap does that.

I was doing research on these types of apps and I tried to email wedding snap asking a lot of important questions.

They state "Weddings in 500 Cities in U.S. & 15 Countries Around The World, Since April 2012". Now I understand marketing so I tried asking them how many weddings they've actually been a part of. They could just have downloads from that many places and are trying to play it off. I also asked for them to explain to me what makes them better than the competition, what justifies their higher prices, etc.

It's been over a week now and I've yet to get a return email.

I'm sorry but to me that is unprofessional and I have moved on. They have competition that have better prices and that are more customer friendly. I will not be giving these people my money.

Love this idea! Agree wedding snap is too pricey though. I went to a wedding recently that used a similar app called married that allowed for live photo sharing and a lot of other neat features too.

I found PhotoOpp Bride Edition. Seems to be the most customized to a wedding couple and you get 6 events. It turns into a souvenir gift for the guest after they leave as well, which is pretty cool I think. www.photooppbride.com

Firstly, disclaimer: I'm the CEO of Wedding Snap.

There are many free options. However, you get what you pay for. Would you hire a free photographer just because it's free?

Imagine, your guest wants to capture your great uncle dancing hilariously on the dance floor. She opens the app, wants to take a photo, and the app doesn't work at that moment. Unfortunately, that moment is lost forever.

If your wedding is one of the most important days in your life, you would want nothing but the best reliability, quality, & support, especially when it comes to capturing those precious candid moments of your big day.

Wedding Snap has a world class team of engineers that work night & day to ensure 3 things:

1_ Maximum Reliability: you will NOT loose a photo or video no matter what

2_ Maximum Quality: you will have high quality photos & videos at all times

3_ 7-day Customer Support: Just call or email us and we are there whenever you need us.

We simply care about you & your big day.
