Revel Nails/Dip Manicure

mrsmack, on February 1, 2017 at 10:45 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 12

Morning Everyone!

I've never gotten a manicure or used artificial nails before, but I'm considering trying some out before the wedding to see if I like them. I've heard that Dip/Powder Manicures are less damaging than gel or acrylic nails and I was planning on getting them done within the next week or two. Just wondering if anyone here has gotten them before and what was your experience?

I get ANC done on my nails when I do my manicures. They last longer than polish and look more crisp, in my opinion. There's a lot of colors to pick from, too.

My one word of advice is either (a) get the color removed at the salon or (b) use acetone to do it at home. If they chip, don't pick them off. I made that mistake once and my nails suffered.

The salon I go to tacks on $5 for color removal for dip/powder manicures. It's worth it.

Thank you!! How long does it usually last? I read somewhere 2 weeks and somewhere else up to 8 weeks..

With ANC, the color lasts 4-6 weeks. I can do 8 weeks because I usually wait for pay day to treat myself with a manicure (if I'm on top of my bills).

They do chip, but it's hard to chip them. The one time they've chipped on me, I was moving chairs after a wedding at work; pinched my finger between the stacked chairs and the wall and the ANC on my thumb cracked. You really got to go out of work way to crack/chip them.

But the color doesn't fade at all, so that's a plus. The glitter options don't flake off, either.

Yikes, that sounds painful, but good to know! I'm pretty clumsy and bang my hands off of stuff all the time lol.

    Thank you again!

Yes and I'm OBSESSED!!! I bite my nails and chip / peel the paint, and the powder manicure is the only thing that has cured me of it! I have long healthy nails for the first time ever, it's amazing.

The powder is packed with vitamins so it's really good for your nails (mine have been growing like crazy since I started doing it), and they are near impossible to chip! I didn't discover the powder manicures (where I get it done it's called SNS) until a month after my wedding but I absolutely would have had it done if I had known!

ETA: My guess on how long they last would be forever?? But really Smiley smile The only reason I go in to get them re-done is because my nails grow out and you can see the gap in color! Right now I'm 3 weeks into this color and might push it another week before getting a new color.

I have gel acrylics, they last for a month and I have zero problems with my nails underneath. They last for a month at least.

I do the dip powder and since starting my nails have been much healthier. I got my last manicure before my wedding on January 11 and other than them growing out, the nails still look perfect.

I have had both acrylics, dipped and gel polish nails. Acrylics do the most damage to your natural nail. Gel polish didn't last very long. Dipped lasted longer but I like to do that about 4 weeks to get my nails to the length and to have the least likelihood of chip or peeling occurring. I hope that helps.

How much is a dip manicure? I do gel polish and never get more than 10 days! And I'm a freak who cannot handle any sort of chip. Once it chips, I have to take off all the polish and end up peeling some if necessary.

I just did the dip (SNS) manicure. So far I like it but it's only been 4 days. The nail technician said they are better than the gel because of the vitamins in it and it doesn't hurt the nail to leave it on for more than a couple weeks.

@WWLynnie - you've said a few times how obsessed you are with SNS and I believe you and am sold Smiley smile My question - my wedding is in 24 days... should I get my first SNS manicure the day before or go now to try it out???
