Where I work, we book vacation days way in advance (kind of a first come first serve basis), so I am going through my vacation days for next year, making sure I get all the ones I want with the wedding and honeymoon and all. So my question is, is it a bad idea to return to work the Monday after my wedding? (wedding will be Saturday) FH will be back at work that Monday, and all our family will have returned home as well, so i figured if I'm just home by myself for the sake of being home, will that make me even more bummed its all over? We are not leaving for our honeymoon until a month after the wedding, so I won't need to start packing for that. For the ladies who are already married..is this a bad idea to return to work that soon? will i regret this when the time comes?

I'd go back Tuesday IF you have the extra time, just because Sunday will be an exhausting day emotionally after the let down from a year's planning. Saturday will not be a day off, so having 2 days means Sunday you can literally do NOTHING, and enjoy the day with Hubs, and then Monday you'll be able to tend to things that need getting done, that may have falled by the wayside during the week leading up to the event.

Our honeymoon is a week after the wedding so we are both planning on going back to work Monday but your post make me think that I should go back Tuesday. I will probably need that extra day of rest!

I start a new job on Monday and I am on the edge of my seat with anticipation of asking about the vacation situation. I really hope I can get the Friday before and the week after my wedding off for a honeymoon - but I am not betting on it to be honest.

At my last job, it was a first come first serve and the people I worked with were very vindictive about it and would screw people on purpose. The oldest worker had over 20 years in so she had 5 weeks of paid vacation every year - and she made sure to take every - single - major - holiday so that no one else could take one at the same time. I effing hated it. She always took Thanksgiving, Christmas, 4th of July, School spring break week (she had no children of her own so she did it to jab the 4 other women with school aged kids), Easter, and Memorial week. We were paid for all those holidays so really she got like 7 weeks of paid vacation time.
