Returning to the same bridal shop multiple times?

I did. I made an appointment at BHLDN with my roommate and then went back later in the month with my mom to show her what I liked (didn't end up buying there). I worked with different consultants each time, but it wasn't odd at all.

Absolutely! Give them your name to get the same stylist who will pull your favorites for you to retry. Then if you want a different direction, she can do that too.

I went to David's Bridal twice and even tried on the same dress both times, all within a month. It's actually the dress that I bought.

When I got engaged everyone guilted me into inviting them to wedding dress shopping and said if I went alone first they'd be mad at me (because finding MY wedding dress isn't about me or anything...). There were 7 people: my mom, sister, and grandmothers, and his mom, sister, and SIL. I knew this would be complete chaos so I made an appointment, took my MOH/best friend, and told my consultant this was a secret appointment and if I found the dress I'd be bringing back the entire gang but acting like I'd never met her. She said that is more common than you'd think. As far as going back to the same shop: if you don't find anything you like, I wouldn't go back. At my secret appointment, I didn't find anything that flattered/appealed to me so there wouldn't be a point in making another appointment and wasting my/their time. If you try something that you like and need more opinions, then go back to that shop!

I went alone. Right before I decided to do that, my mom and bridesmaids had been breathing down my back about a lot of things, being negative Nancy's, not listening to my opinions, etc. So I went without them. I remember I had started a wish list at DB and the consultant I met up with asked me what I wanted and I said, "Mermaid! Trumpet! Tight!" And she said, "None of those things are in your wish list." LOL. I explained I'd created my wish list based on what I could afford, not necessarily what I was envisioning. She pulled a couple of the dresses I'd selected but then she found two dresses that were mermaid-ish. One was super glitzy and too over-the-top, but it was beautiful and it was on sale in my price range. The other I never would have picked in a million years, and it ended up being my favorite! I brought my maids and mothers with me to the next appointment and told them to mind their p's and q's, and tried on the top 3, saving the best for last.

I'm SO glad I went on my own first - if they had said anything negative about the dresses I was trying on I would have lost all my confidence. I know what I like, and I trust that you know what you like, too!

I think you should ask the shops where you're planning to look to see if they can see you more than twice. At my appointment I remember a woman saying she was there for the 4th time and they said they couldn't give her as much personal attention? I have no clue why, because you'd think they'd be interested in selling, but it might be a good idea to ask.

I think it is more than fine, I feel like when they see you alone they will expect you to return with your entourage when you find something you love. No worries

It's fine. I went to a shop with my sister, and found the dress I really like, but not love. I brought my whole bridal squad and my mother back to try on the dress again. However, I did not end up getting it because I really didn't love it.
