Returning Duplicate Gifts

Cathy, on October 4, 2019 at 7:47 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 6
How do you go about doing it tastefully? I got 2 of the same gifts, and I already sent thank you cards. One came from Amazon, the other was from
a store. No gift receipt came with the store one. I’ll wait until after the wedding to do any returning.

Did you get one with the amazon? I would do that and get an Amazon credit

Same! This happened to us too, we just returned one of them. Honestly whoever gave it doesnt have to know they weren’t the only one!

Yes, one was an Amazon purchase from the registry.

No non-tasteful way as long as you return for your own store credit — they should never know. Thank the person for the gift they gave— you’ll enjoy the item whether it came from them or not. Just make sure the return ends up going towards a credit to YOU, and not a return on their card

It's ok to thank them and then return it.

That’s what I’m worried about is that the store will credit the buyer’s card.
