Returned save the dates

JJ12, on February 5, 2020 at 12:36 AM Posted in Planning 0 5
I recently sent out my save the dates and just received several back in my mail box a few days later. I double checked the addresses with the recipient and a google map check and they are correct addresses. There’s no sticker or stamp that states a reason. Has this happened to anyone?

Oh, happens ALL THE TIME. We had to take them back to the post office and be like... Um what?

Bonus for the post office saying, "oh, yeah, that's a real address". We had one show up to an address for one person, and another come back to us (roommates, not a couple). That was fun. I really appreciated having to pay postage again, when it was the post office's mistake...

Sadly, there are many horror stories of mailings gone wrong.

My mom worked for the post office and when I was addressing mine she said to make sure that the return address was on the front and not the back. They go through a machine and if they are on the back, they could get read wrong and it come to your address instead of the address for your guest. Not sure if that is your situation but just something I was told.

I've read this in several posts.... If the return address is on the back of the envelope, it's possible for them to get run through the sorting machine backward and get delivered back to you.... Good luck!

Yep, this happened to us with one of our invitations. It came back due to the sorting machine thinking my parents' address was who the mail was being sent to (I used her address as the return address). My mom just took it to the post office, and they sent it back out.... well, supposedly. That person never, actually, got their invitation after it was resent, and we didn't get it back either.
