Return addresses on rsvp envelopes

Katie, on June 25, 2018 at 11:04 AM Posted in Planning 0 16
This may be a silly question but this is my first time getting married so I honestly have no idea....I obviously know that we need to address the rsvp envelopes along with stamp them but do we put the return address on as well? I have no problem doing this since we are using clear Avery labels for our invitations and can just print double but I’m just curious if people typically do that? Or if we should just expect people to write it in themselves before sending it back..I truly cannot remember from any rsvps that we’ve sent back as guests ourselves! TIA

Definitely put the return address on there. It's hard enough to get guests to fill out the cards properly and put them in the mail when they're both pre-stamped and pre-addressed. The less work they have to do, the less likely you'll be chasing them down for their RSVPs later.

Edit: I think I misunderstood you. Your guests can choose to put their addresses on the RSVP envelope as a return address, but as long as you get your own address correct, you shouldn't have to write theirs in as a return address.

Yes! You put the return address on the rsvp for guests. I bought a stamp from etsy for this exact reason! Smiley smile

I think you're asking about putting the guests addresses on the rsvp envelopes they send back to you... correct?

I did not. I addressed the RSVP envelopes with my own address and stamped them but did not put each individual guests address in the upper left hand corner for their return address. I did, number the backs of the cards for each guest in case someone didn't fill in their name on the guest name line.

Yes, this is exactly what I’m talking about. I will definitely put our address on it so that they don’t need to fill that in. I just wasn’t sure if we are supposed to fill in they’re address as well in the top left corner. I hear of so many people receiving rsvps back with no names so I wasn’t sure! Smiley smile

I just bought an invisible ink pen and numbered each RSVP so that I could tell who sent it back if they didn't put their names on it! I've only have 1 like that so far and I was super glad I numbered them!

I understand what you are asking! I was thinking about doing this as well because I've heard people getting them back and having no names on them. I would much rather print out two labels than write and keep track of numbers on the RSVP cards.

I think FH and I will print double the labels and put the guests return address label on for them so I know who is sending back the RSVP. I think that's the easiest way to do it.

I didn’t put the return addresses on my send back envelopes and all of them just magically appeared at my house.

I have observed that most enclosures for reply cards will include an addressed and stamped envelope so the mailing process is as seamless as possible for your guests. I have also read tips by some brides who will indicate the guests name in invisible ink or will somehow demarcate an identifying code on the reply card so it will be easier to determine from whom the reply was made. Best of luck!

We just sent ours this weekend and did not put their return addresses on the RSVP envelopes, we also used Avery labels to do ours and it seemed like it would look strange on the RSVPs since they are small-ish.. But I did number the RSVPs on the backs in case names weren't filled out!

I didn't put return addresses on the RSVP card envelopes. I stamped them and addressed them to be sent back.

Some of my guests filled in their own return address and some mailed them without a return address. All got to me just fine.

I didn't even think of the no-name issue! How are you numbering them? Something like "John & Jane Smith - #3"?

Yes, I will probably just keep a spreadsheet doc and do that!

I put both our address and the guest’s addresses on the RSVP envelopes. I’m making it as easy as possible for the guests to return the RSVP cards lol. I even filled out the household names in the cards themselves. They just need to check yes or no, how many people attending, and stick it in the envelope, seal it, and stick it in their mailbox.

These are all excellent ideas and I am noting them, since addressing/mailing my invites is my next big project.
