Return Address Labels....uh...how??

Andrea, on June 16, 2020 at 10:50 PM Posted in Planning 0 18

Someone PLEASE HELP. I ran across a wonderful tip: When it comes to invitations, use an address stamp or labels so you don't have to hand write the return address or pay extra to have them put on the envelopes. GREAT TIP but here's the rub....do I have folks send RSVP's to me or to the wedding planner? If I send them to me how do I make my last name appear? My fiance and I live together so do I use my maiden name or my married name?

I used my maiden name since that was my name at the time.

They rsvp to you not the planner. We also used first names only but I would have used my maiden name if I was using last names.

Sure thing! I felt it would be premature to use my married name before the wedding, but also putting 2 last names seemed like way too much to fit on a sticker haha.

We had a cute stamp made with just our first names so we can use it even after we’re married!

I would ask the wedding planner what they prefer. I have friends that had their planners handle RSVPs but not all do. For the name you could do future Mr and Mrs last name.

Have them sent to your own address. You, not your planner, need to tally the responses and track down anyone who didn't reply on time.

If you have a full service planner then the RSVP is to them not you. I mean you could request to handle the RSVP but why would you want to burden yourself with that task when you paid someone to do it for you. The return address would be the planners business address. At least that is what I am doing.

But if not, "The Future Mr and Mrs" is catchy or "The _______ Wedding"

I would have them delivered to you, but you can always ask your planner. I also would use your maiden name as that's your name at the time.

I used my maiden name on the return envelopes. We learned during Christmas time our post office or person doesn't good at putting things in our mailbox without last names on it. We also live in an apartment so only our last names are on the mailbox, so that's probably part of the reason. But I was just going to do our first names until that incident happened.

I bought one like this that just had our first names. I wanted something I could continue to use even after my name changes.

I bought a self inking stamp that we could use for the return address for the save the dates and for the RSVP envelopes. I also bought a customized return address embosser like this
https://www.papersource.com/stationery/return-address-embosser-ampersand-emb42075100091.html to use for the return addresses on the invitations. We used my parents name/address because they're hosting, but you could order it with current names and then just replace the address part when you change your name.
Another thing you can do is just run the envelopes through your printer, although I just did that with our change the date magnets for the recipient addresses and it was kind of a hassle.

I would ask my planner if it's part of her services or something I need to do.

I actually have some Return address stickers that I purchased years ago that I’ll use for invitations. I didn’t bother on the money to order new matching ones. And I didn’t want people to think we were already living together, so I’ll wait to get a stamp or new stickers made after the wedding.

I'd communicate with your planner and see what she wants. All the invites I've ever seen go to the bride & groom or the bride's parent's house. I ordered a stamp with my husband's last name (now my last name) and our address then used it for invites. Even though it wasn't my last name, people got the idea and now I can continue to use it after!
