Restaurant Reception Dress???

Tris, on January 2, 2019 at 3:21 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 10
I'm getting married on my anniversay, it falls on a Monday this year. It'll be very small, immediate family only, probably around 25 people. It's an outdoor wedding in August held in the afternoon. Then the reception is at a bar/restaurant that has a game room at 5pm. Do I wear a real wedding dress then change? Or a tea length dress? or a simple a line? I want to be comfortable and don't want to feel out of place, but I still want to feel like a bride. Any advice?

Do whatever you want!! I've been to small JOP weddings where the bride was in a full on gown and wore the same to the reception, I've also been to ones where the bride just wore whatever was comfortable. It's totally up to you!

Perhaps set a budget for your dress and then go to a salon and see what you feel comfortable and bridal in?

I would just wear your wedding dress all night! You are the bride, so you can do that! If you don't want to, I'd look for another tea length dress because they are still very bridal.

I made almost this exact same post a little while ago because of a similar situation (and actually for the same reason which is pretty funny). After reading comments, I've decided to go with a classy white or off-white dress instead of my actual wedding gown for the later event. I've been looking on AZAZIE, but was suggested JCPenney, Ross, TJ Maxx, and Poshmark

There are several brides on here who have done over-skirts, or whatever they're called. So basically you could have a fun tea length dress for your reception but you could purchase a skirt to wear over it for the ceremony if that's what makes you feel like an all out bride.

There's also nothing not bridal about a fun tea length dress either! I couldn't pull one off personally.

Awesome! I will do whatever I want! I just wanna be comfortable and feel pretty. I guess I don't know until I try dresses on. Budget isn't much, so I'm sure I can find something casual in my budget.

I agree. I don't really want to change. I don't see the point. I just need to find something that works for both venues.

I'll have to look up the post to get more feedback. I'll check those sites. I've been looking on eBay and ombreprom. I just really want to try it on. I'm hoping to lose 20lbs so that complicates it too.

I don't know if I can do the shape either. I think an aline or empire waist would be more flattering on me.

Well the beauty of a more casual dress is that you can always buy it closer to the wedding which gives you time and a better idea of what size you will be then
