Responses to save the dates

Eleanor, on December 4, 2013 at 4:44 PM Posted in Planning 0 8

Over the holidays I handed out some of my save the dates to family members to save on stamps and almost everyone said "I already saved the date. I don't need one." They meant well but I kept thinking, I already bought these, you're taking one! I mean, I know they're coming, but I'm still sending an invite.

Anyone else get strange responses to save the dates?

I got scolded by my next door neighbor (a close friend) for mailing it. Lol.

Eh, I wouldn't care about it. I sent them because I wanted to send them even though I knew I didn't really NEED them.

@rusticbride: I wasn't upset or anything. I just thought it was funny.

When I sent out my STD some of my family thought they were invitations. They are fun to send out, makes things seem so real.

@Mrs. Castig: Exactly. Other than booking the venue, it's the first thing I've really been able to check off my list. I was so psyched.

We used paperless post and there were some - primarily older folks - who were RSVPing to them or asking when the RSVP date was.

This drove FH crazy. "I told you people would be confused." LOL. 98% of the people were not btw. It was pretty much the generation who never used STD who don't even get what they are. No matter how we sent them, I'm sure they would be confused.

Everybody ive given it to so far has been totally clueless, they all think its an invitation, even though it is printed clearly on the bottom, "formal invitation to follow." I gave them out in my christmas cards, and the only real responses i got were, "That's cute" and "What, too cheap to use a stamp?" ( i hand delivered that one to a coworker)
