Response cards

Hilary, on January 24, 2017 at 1:39 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 1 10

I was about to order my invitations today, and realized I have no idea what to do for my response cards.

We will be having a plated dinner with three options, beef, salmon, and vegetarian. How in the world do I know who wants what for the meal?! I guess what I mean is if I invite two people on one invitation, and one wants beef and one wants salmon, how will I know who wants what. I want to make sure the service goes well and that everyone is getting what they wanted. I would provide the servers with a chart or have some sort of key so the servers know who is getting what, but how will I know who is getting what?

Any advice would be appreciated.

I plan on putting "please initial your entree choice" or something similar.

I specified on the RSVP card, "Please initial entrée choice for each guest," and listed the options with a space in front of each entrée. I am hoping everyone will put their first initial next to the Neal they want. If not, then I'll just have to call and ask, "Hey, Liz! Did you or Dan want the salmon?"

I just went to a wedding where the dinner choices were on the response card with a line next to each. Each guest initialed next to the meal of choice. The bride only had a few issues with guests not putting a response and just had to follow up with the few. Hope this helps!

I went to a wedding this summer that had the dinner options listed in the rsvp card, and they asked to initial next to the option you'd like. Then they used different patterns on the place cards for the servers to identify which meal option they get.

My venue just needs to know the meal choices on the escort cards and we have to give them a list of how many meals per table. They dont care which person in the couple orders what as long as they know how many of each need to be at that table.

We put on the RSVP card for them to choose which meal they want.

On our RSVP cards we put the line saying "please initial each guest's meal selection," but some people are still filling them out incorrectly lol. No matter what you do, expect that you will still need to follow up with some of your guests for clarification. As for the reception, we will be putting some sort of indicator on the place cards to let the servers know what each guest ordered.

We did online responses, through our wedding website, and in order to accept our invitation, the guest had to chose one of three entrees.

Adding "please initial each guest's meal selection" is the easiest! We also just randomly assigned a few for couples who didn't initial, I've got no problem switching plates with DH Smiley smile
