Response Cards and deadline

Sara, on August 10, 2021 at 11:18 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 5

I'm curious to know if majority of you heard from a large bulk of your guests right before your deadline? Our deadline for responses is set for this Friday the 13th, but we still have 95 people unaccounted for. It's so frustrating having days where we don't get any cards in the mail LOL

I do plan on immediately reaching out to those we don't hear from starting Saturday, but was wondering if I should be optimistic about getting a lot back the next few days...... We still have a few weeks before the wedding to sort it all out.

We did get a lot back right toward the end- probably about 10-20% of our RSVPs were in the last week. I would say right now it’s possible that with covid numbers rising across the country that people are waiting until the last minute to decide if they feel comfortable attending a wedding.

Our RSVP deadline was this past Friday and we got at least 5 in the mail that day and a couple more in the following days - probably 80% of our guest list has responded at this point, so we have a handful to reach out to and confirm. Definitely glad I gave myself a week buffer before my caterer needs numbers!

If your due date is Friday, then you start calling Friday night and end Sunday night to check anyone who hasn’t replied yet. If they don’t have an answer on the spot, you mark them as no. You will get quite a few in the mail on Friday.

When does your caterer need to know by? Mail has been taking longer than normal this past year so honestly it might be the postal service and not your guests that are lacking. If you don't need your guest count on Friday, then I would wait until Monday to start calling people because you'll most likely be getting them in the mail Friday and Saturday.

We had a bunch toward the end, but also a whole lot that were obviously dropped in the mail ON our deadline. 2-3 days after our deadline, I got about 10 in one day 🤣
