Resized ring too tight

Lilly, on April 11, 2018 at 12:22 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 11
I sent my ring in to get resized. It started as a 6.75 and they measure me to a 5. The sizing ring I tried on as a fight fit on my finger fine. A little snug but it was comfortable. I got my ring back yesterday I tried it on and got tbkver my knuckle but I couldn’t get it fully to the top of my finger!!! They said it was because it was a different kind of band obviously. So they decided to bump it up to a 5.25. Is that going to be enough? I have been panicking thinking that it will still be too tight especially in the summer. I’m wondering how tight is too tight. I know I will try it on after being resized the second time on Saturday, but I just want a reference on how tight is normal. I don’t have a solitare ring so that’s part of the reason they said to go tighter and I have the comfort band. I don’t want to keep going back to have it resized. So let me know your thoughts!!

It should be able to slide off easily when you move it in that direction, but not come off on its own. Mine is a size 5 and spins, but it never slides up and down my finger on its own.

Okay! It literally slid up my finger fine. Over my top knuckle but not all the way to the top of my finger. I hope that 5.25 will be enough

They don’t have any. I tried to 5.5 and it felt okay to me, but it did slide easily. I have a feeling I should have sized it to .5 considering my band fits tighter already than sized as I found out

I was going to ask the same question. Also, did they verify in front of you that the ring had actually been sized accurately to a 5? Meaning, did they pull out the sizing pole (not the sizing rings) when your resized ring didn't fit and confirm that the ring was resized correctly?

To answer your question, there's a noticeable difference in fit between quarter sizes, so it will probably be fine. But they should have gotten the sizing rings back out and verified that 5.25 was going to be a more comfortable fit for you before taking it back to be resized again, as well as measured the ring to make sure it really was a size 5.

They measure it in front of me. It did say 5! They said because it was a different sized band it fits differently. Unfortunately they don’t have quarter size sizing rings. That’s why It was difficult. It makes me happier to hear that it is a noticeable different in quarter sizing. I’m just worried Bc my fingers do swell every day. I work with kids so I’m constantly on my feet and chasing them. I guess I will have to test it out when I get the 5.25 back on Saturday!

I was really conflicted on deciding to resize my ring from 6.25 to 6 - I really wondered if it would matter. At 6.25 it would easily slide up to my knuckle on its own and I could feel it run into my other fingers when I would put them together. At 6 it fits comfortably, and can spin but doesn’t move up my finger by itself. The quarter size should make the difference you want Smiley smile

It’s also important to make sure you get the size for a ring of similar width. 4mm rings will feel tighter than 1.5mm rings eve if they’re the same size Smiley smile

I think the new size will work out. I hope it is exactly how you want it.
