Rescheduling

Charlene, on August 7, 2020 at 12:23 PM Posted in Planning 0 12
So, I've seen so many 2020 brides reschedule their wedding date amd have to pay a fee due to no fault of their own and with New York holding steady but still seeing a slight increase, it got a little worried about having to reschedule my 2021 date then having to pay an additional fee. Then I remembered we signed an additional Covid19 contract. The details are pictured below. I am so thankful I have this, to the brides that haven't booked a venue. I highly recommend you request a contract like this, so you can be sure you won't be charged additional fees. I blocked out the venue due to privacy😅😅😅Rescheduling 1

That’s great you have that clause, but you do realize if YOU cancel due to covid, that contract is null. That added verbiage only protects the caterer.

What you are talking about is brides who have canceled because they don’t feel safe, it has nothing to do with the vendor unable to fulfill the contract.

No, I ment what I said. I have seen a few brides who was forced to change the date due to Covid19 and Venues still charged them a fee because they refused to reduce the size of their parties. Which would be the same for me, I'd rather change the date then reduce the size. Plus it says Which ever date is good for BOTH parties not just them. So this contract ensures that I won't get a reduce in services due to the date change or inqure an additional fee, say if I moved my Friday wedding to a Saturday.

Agree with Margaret...this really only protects against another government-mandated shut down. Not to minimize it's value - it's great you have this in writing! But it wouldn't protect against what a lot of couples are going through right now because their venues are "legally" allowed to operate. If the venue is not shut down, but you don't feel safe holding your wedding, there's nothing here that would prevent them from charging you additional fees to postpone. Smiley sad Fingers crossed we won't even have to worry about this next year!! Smiley smile

Reread that addendum, it ONLY protects the vendor. If you make changes NOW, you have all the penalties and whatnot to pay.
That addendum only applies to local laws which prohibit them from fulfilling on their end.

Additionally, it has to be a date you both have to agree to. So they could potentially say a prime date you want is unavailable

Ok, I'm gonna word this right, I AM WELL AWARE WHAT HAPPENS IF iI CANCEL!!!!! THIS POST IF THEY ARE UNABLE TO FUFILL THEIR END AND PEOPLE WHERE STILL BEING CHARGED FEES, WEATHER ITS THE VENUE, PHOTOGRAPHER, FLOWERS, ETC THEY WERE CHARGED A FEE,

I AM RECOMMENDING THAT PEOPLE GET SOME SIMILAR SO IF THE GOVERNMENT CAUSES A SHUTDOWN AGAIN YOU WILL NOT BE CHAGED FOR MOVING YOUR DATE BECAUSE YOU REFUSE TO REDUCE YOUR SIZE that's it🤦🏾‍♀️

I think it’s great you have protection in case the vendor can’t uphold their contract due to a shutdown, but in my experience that is generally the case. I understand what you’re saying- you have no intention of changing, but the PPs are right, this clause will not protect you from penalties unless there is a shutdown. If come next spring restrictions force them to limit the capacity, you would still be faced with the choice of downsizing or postponing and potentially having to pay more just like brides this year. I think the PPs were just trying to make sure you understood that, no one is trying to be negative. Let’s hope things look much better in 2021.

I get what you are saying with this post, you didn't have to reword it, you were pretty clear. If the venue can't host the event (say because indoor dining is not allowed at all), you wouldn't be penalized and have to pay extra to move your date (say from a weekday to a weekend, from "non wedding season" to "wedding season" etc. That they couldn't just say here is your new date, that you actually have a say in it as well.
