Rescheduling and dealing with vendors

Mrs. Rachel Lamb, on July 3, 2020 at 2:58 AM Posted in Planning 0 27
For those who decided to move their wedding date, how was it for you guys? Did you guys had a hard time talking with your vendors? All my vendors have agreed to reschedule without any additional fee (October 10, 2020 wedding) except for my photographer. She said that prices for weddings next year has increased, that I have to pay for the difference. Also she wanted me to pay for changing fee since its not within the same calendar year (moving the wedding to October 10, 2021). It says on the contract that “Reschedule must be within the same calendar year of 12 months. A new retainer will be made if date change is made for 1 year after the agreed upon wedding date.” So I guess unless I change the date to October 09, 2021 I will have to pay for these extra fees that she mentioned. Should I wait for the “additional fees” or move on to another photographer and just let her have the retainer. I know that times are hard, it is for everyone. I was just hoping that she would be considerate like the other vendors. I appreciate any insight. Thank you! Stay safe!

Hey, I actually made sure to pick vendors that carried an emergency liability clause where in case of an emergency I would be able to change a date without hidden fee's. My fiancé is in the military so it makes it very difficult if deployment comes around and we have no choice but to change again. I had something similar but with our cake vendor. My advice would be to just speak with them during this pandemic you truly did not have a choice but to change your wedding date for not only the safety of you, your spouse, guests, but also the safety of your vendors as well. I don't see why they are charging you fee's for changing the date given the circumstances and lockdowns we all have encountered some things are just truly out of your control. good luck and I hope this all gets resolved. I feel right now just even having the courage to change the date and accommodate everyone is a lot and more fee's just makes things that much more harder but I am sure it'll all work well for youSmiley smile

That's a very smart decision. My future hubby to be is also in the military but he's a reservist. I should've thought about that. Also I'm stuck in the Philippines because of the travel ban that my country has implemented. So as much as I want to push through I don't want to cancel at the last minute. I hope that her added fees wouldn't be too much as we understand that everyone is struggling at these times. Otherwise I might just have to look for a replacement and let her keep the retainer. Thank you and hope everything goes well with yours!

Aww that’s amazing ! Tell your future hubby thank you for his service ! Yes, definitely I hope that works out for you. Oh my Philippines, I wish you well and that you are able to get home soon and safe. That’s a good idea, check how much it would be to have a new photographer and how much you have gave in your deposit for your photographer and see if there might be a way to still save your photographer or change them. Thank you very much ☺️✨💕

Crappy we had been told if we needed to move our wedding due to covid we would do so free of charge this was in May. When our county went in the green we had been told oh we can definitely have your wedding for November 7, 2020. So now of you want to move your date you have to pay a $1,000 transfer fee, $5 per person we have 120-130 guests, and the service charge would go up from 21% to 22%.

So we decided to cancel our wedding this year. We had also been told we would get a full refund if we would cancel back in May. But again we are green and they said we have to follow a contract that was signed back in 2019 before covid that they would keep 25% which was $2,000.
We left due to not trusting them anymore and no longer wanting to work with them. So we are now in the process of looking for a new venue for next fall.

We were able to reschedule our wedding. All our vendors allowed us to postpone with no additional cost. Since we postponed to 2022, our venue said food pricing isn't guaranteed, but they allowed us to postpone without losing our deposit and what we've already paid.

That’s absurd. Well we might be on the same path but with our photographer. She have just replied with her new pricing. Her package went up to $700 more! She said that we are rescheduling a year out to reasons not related to COVID. I don’t get what she meant by that because it’s obviously because of the uncertainty of things due to the pandemic. She said she would have kept the same price if we change it on the same calendar year. So with our wedding being in October that just gives us Nov-Dec to choose from? We have clearly changed our wedding date exactly 1 year from the original. This is really upsetting. All other vendors has been very understanding and sympathetic except for her. We don’t mind paying a rescheduling fee but to pay another $700 just because her prices has changed for 2021 is unreasonable. Sigh. I hope she’s not taking advantage of the situation knowing brides are most likely to reschedule because of what’s happening.

There’s a reason for everything. I hope you find a better venue. I guess we’re still lucky it’s just one vendor that’s giving us a headache. Good luck and stay safe!

I’m so sorry you had that experience. But I am most positive that you will find the right venue for you ☺️ As you said you didn’t trust them anymore and nothing is worse than being forced to stick with a venue who does that type of scrutiny especially because they are estimating a second wave which we will not be in the green so it was absolutely pointless for them to not allow you to change your date and honoring their word about no fees and then even increasing their percent by 1. Best wishes !🤍

Oh my 😭 that’s terrible!! I would honestly go with another photographer and get your money back. There are plentiful photographers that are kind, honest, and respectful. To me that truly sounds like she is taking advantage of the pandemic situation and truly just up and increased her prices. I truly hope she is humbled and realizes how unfair that is for so many couples out there just trying to capture such a. Beautiful special moment in their lives. Wedding wire can send some automated ones for you to photographers within your venue region! Best of luck ✨💓

Our vendors have been amazing. Put a soft hold on a new date with venue in early April. All vendors did a soft hold for us too. and when we made decision to move wedding, they all did it with no issue

We explained to her that it is still within 1 year from the agreed upon date and we are giving her more than 2 months notice. It finally sinked in for her and she agreed. Thank God! Whew! We were ready to move forward with another photographer because I wouldn’t want to be uncomfortable come wedding day. Thank you! And I wish you all the best too!❤️
