Reschedule Again Question

Jessica, on July 26, 2020 at 11:52 PM Posted in Planning 0 5
Like so many other couples, we had to postpone our original wedding back in April. We had a small 10 person ceremony on our original date, so we are officially married! When we decided to postpone back in March, we chose 10/24/20 thinking we'd be in the clear by then. With the way things are going, we're thinking we'll likely have to postpone again. We don't want to put any of our guests at risk, and we want our big wedding to be a celebration with dancing and other things that can't safely be done right now.

Originally, we sent our new save the dates for October, but we don't feel like spending more money by sending out a third one. I'm thinking of just emailing them out to save money but am also open to other suggestions. Also, any advice from couples who have had to doubly postpone now would be appreciated. I'm not looking forward to notifying our guests that we may be postponing yet again. Thanks in advance! 💕

This is something I’m anticipating happening with us, though we won’t make the decision until September. We also have already sent out Re-Save the Dates. We’ll probably do what we did for the first postponement in letting people know through text/phone calls that we were postponing. We’ll be getting married this fall regardless of the plan, and anticipate a reception/anniversary party next year. Honestly, I’ll probably send out “Third Time’s the Charm” cards sometime next year as we assess the state of our area then. I’m sorry you’re finding yourself in this boat again!

I would definitely just email them or otherwise contact your guests informally and let them know the new date.

We postponed from December 2020 to December 2021 (we're pulling the plug early because we don't want to stress / worry about our date next year being unavailable) and simply put out a facebook message of the postponement.

I would email them and expect to make follow up phone calls for those you don’t receive replies from.

I would send emails and make personal calls just to make sure people received them.

I would check with wherever you bought your invitations. A lot of companies are re-printing invites and save the dates for free if you have had to postpone due to the pandemic!
