Requesting Help from White Wine Aficionados

Elly, on July 21, 2023 at 12:59 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 8

Hello! I am a bit out of my element since I rarely drink, but, I wanted to provide a white wine option for my guests.

Any advice on what would pair well with our food is sincerely appreciated.

Cocktail Hour:
-Mini bean and cheese or chicken chimichangas
-Chips, salsa, and guacamole

Salad Course:

Mixed greens, red grapes, pumpkin seeds, cotija cheese, and dried cranberries with a chipotle ranch dressing.

Dinner Options:

-Beef fajitas with peppers, guacamole, refried beans, and Mexican style rice.

-Grilled chicken breast with a honey lime glaze, hatch chile mashed potatoes, zucchini, squash, and pico de gallo.

-BBQ style jackfruit with grains, avocado, nopalitos (paddle cactus), and black beans.

I’m not at all a wine expert, but in reading through your menu the first thing popped into my mind was whether you’ve considered do a white wine sangria? I think that would go great with all this!

I am avoiding red wine all together to avoid any stains or accidents.

Right, so do a white wine sangria. There are some really great citrusy recipes for those.

For the white, I'd go with sauvignon blanc or possibly chardonnay. Sauvignon blanc is more universally liked IMO and goes well with most things on your menu. I totally get not wanting to personally drink red wine on your wedding to avoid accidents, but I'd definitely plan on serving it to guests. If I were a guest at a wedding where there was only white wine and no red wine, I would be confused at best, peeved at worst. Up to you at the end of the day of course, but I would highly recommend offering both red and white, especially since you will be serving beef. For the red, I'd go with a pinot noir or cabernet sauvignon.

You can't go wrong with a sauvignon blanc as a white. I also recommend that you add a red wine choice as well.

I agree with others, Sauvignon Blanc.

Will you also offer beer? Perfect for your dishes, good option for guests who don’t like wine, and it’s clear—no staining concern. 🍻

Sauvignon Blanc is always safe, especially for the summer, or a Chardonnay that's not too buttery (some people don't like super buttery Chardonnay) would go well!
