Replica ring

Allie, on October 29, 2017 at 8:35 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 14

Hello! So I know there is probably a thread on this already-but google isn't helping much. I absolutely love wearing my engagement ring, only problem is it sits too high on my finger and is 2 carats so it gets in the way! I'm a nurse and I'm constantly washing, sanitizing my hands and taking gloves on and off. I'm terrified of taking off gloves and throwing my ring away accidentally! I've heard of this happening.

YES I know I can leave it at home and wear no ring but I appreciate the significance of engagement rings and would like to avoid that. My FH and I were talking about making a replica for me to wear at work/other places I don't want to risk wearing it.

Any suggestions for something other than moissanite or cubic zirconia?

Would you be opposed to a silicone ring?

@melissahh- Yes except I would not mind getting a replica one dirty/worry about loosing it or ruining it.

You can get a qualo silicone ring just for work. Do you have your ring insured?

@kel.p a silicone ring looks too much like a wedding band to me I think. But I've looked into them.

Why don't you want Moissanite or cubic zirconia? If you want it to look like your ring but be less expensive, I don't know that there are other good alternatives.

I would suggest that instead of a replica, you get a ring you like with a less expensive, smaller stone.

This ring is from Qalo's wedding collection. It's a little more ornate than your average silicone ring.

Honestly, a band for you is the way to go, anything protruding can be problematic.

@rosered I've looked into moissanite and they're like 1-2k, and cubic zirconia is next to nothing but won't last long. I guess I am looking for something in between.

But now that you mention it..a smaller moissanite is a great option thinking about it!

A woman in my grad class wears a silicon ring. I'm not a fan of how it looks but I do think it's convenient and likely gives her peace of mind so she doesn't have to worry about something happening to her ring.

I have a similar problem. I have to wear gloves a lot and choose a small diamond specifically because I could wear it without snagging the gloves.

Why is the silicone band looking like a wedding band an issue?

A silicone ring for my situation makes sense, but then if I'm going to do that why not just go ahead and get a wedding band and wear that instead? Would that be weird? My ring is gold, so I just want a plain gold band. Maybe I could wear my future wedding band to work instead of engagement ring? Is that weird because we're not married yet, or does it not matter at all. Haha. I'm super excited to be able to wear a plain gold band..I think they're so pretty.

Check out Swarovski. They have some reasonably priced rings with decent quality for what you're looking for. I bought a replica for vacations or times I didn't want to wear the real one. I've gotten many compliments on how beautiful it is!

I have a white and a rose gold enso silicone ring. The white has a design in it. I wear them together. I also have a job where my real ring is not practical for.
