Renting vs Buying

MrsBurns, on March 3, 2016 at 11:15 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 7

I personally do not want to have all the wedding decor after the wedding because it will just end up collecting dust, so some things I plan on renting. I'm renting an arch, pedestals and probably bows for the chairs since my mother in law already purchased the table cloths and chair covers. The vases I'm getting from dollar tree but my fiance aunt does arts and crafts so I may give those to her. What do you plan on doing with all of the decor after the wedding is over?

There are facebook groups dedicated to selling your wedding stuff to other brides! Thankfully my venue owns most of the decor so we won't be stuck with much.

We are renting majority of our decor except for centerpieces and some other DIY items. I think after the wedding we will likely just try to sell some of the stuff on local wedding resale sites. I have found some decent things on kijiji as well so I will likely go that route to sell.

Sold almost all of my decor on facebook groups. Ended up making back over $500.

We are making almost all our centerpieces since FFIL is a carpenter and it will save us so much money. But other than the branch and log centerpieces we are renting everything else because I just do not want the hassle to store everything. But with log vases I know some of our family will be willing to take them because they will be nice decorative pieces.

For me the items I need are cheaper to rent. I've seen some posts on here where persons found it cheaper to buy. I guess it's a matter of vendors. Do some research and see where it puts you.

Personally even if it was just a little bit more to rent rather than buy I'd still buy just t not keep all the crap after and having to find somewhere to store them and figure out what to do with them.

We rented our ceremony arch. The rest of the decor we purchased. We have repurposed/reused the picture frames we used for our reception signs and many of the unique candle holders that we bought to decorate the mantles at our venue. We have sold nearly everything else - chalkboard easel, vases, candle holders, card box, etc. I have used the WW facebook site with a lot of success to sell my stuff!
