Renting Glassware for Bar

Kelly, on January 19, 2022 at 9:15 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 5

Hi! We're using china and glassware for our sit down dinner. The caterer suggested hard plastic cups for the bar, but I'd rather use glassware. The issue is that we'd either need a lot of glasses (full bar including bubbly and 100 guests for 8 hours) or wash them. There's no water in the reception area, so the only solution I found is a portable dishwasher with a water tank. Then someone would have to wash dishes all night (we'd hire someone for that). Any better ideas/solutions? Beer will be served in bottles, so I'm thinking we just need lowball or rocks glasses and stemless wine glasses if we rent. Would we need champagne flutes for the bar?

We rented and didn’t have a washer nor running water at the bar, so we just got quantity. Tbh my caterers coordinated all the rentals so I have no idea how many we got but they came in stacks of plastic crates and used empties just went back into crates and then picked up by the rental company dirty.

I think we just had wine/water/rocks for glasses. We didn’t do a champagne toast but we did have prosecco available at the bar— I think that just went in wine glasses. And beer could be served in the water glasses for anyone that preferred not drink from the bottles.

Honestly just rent however many you need and the caterers/bartenders will take care of the rest.

Not everyone drinks champagne so account for maybe half of your guest list at most using those.

We renter water goblets and Champaign flutes. All other drinks were served in disposable plastic cups. It was so much easier. 1) it was cheaper to buy plastic in large quantities than renting. 2) easy clean up. 3) we didn’t have to worry about cleaning them or breakage. Even if you’re having a nicer event I think plastic is fine and that would be my vote.

Thanks. Beer will be in bottles and bubbly can be served in wine glasses. I'll ask my caterer how many glasses we need.

Plastic would be a lot easier but I really hate single use items so I'm dealing with the headache of glassware.
