Rentals?

Emily, on December 10, 2019 at 9:33 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 4

I'm trying to get my head wrapped around rentals. I haven't talked to anyone yet about this but I feel so lost on this whole idea. I'm having a wedding of 30 people with no bridal party. Our venue is going to be my mom's property and we have a nice small patio to hold the reception. I'm looking at getting round tables and some chairs for seating. I'm assuming I'd need chairs for both the reception and the ceremony so we don't have to move furniture throughout the event. Besides our tables and chairs for people to sit at, what other rental furniture do you get? Do I need a table for the food? Cake? Gifts? Escort Cards? etc? What all did you rent furniture wise?

Is the patio covered and big enough for dancing (if you want dancing)? If not, then I recommend a tent and a dance floor.

You'll need a table for displaying the food and desserts, and you'll want a designated area for gifts (you don't necessarily have to display them).

Unless you already have enough, you'll need to rent china (plates, cups, flatware, etc) and linens (tablecloths, napkins).

You might also want to rent bathrooms if you're not comfortable with people going into your mom's house.

Do you need sound equipment? If you're hiring a DJ they should provide that.

I would research set up spaces and how they look. You could keep all the food in the house. Think about the weather for when you are getting married. I know in FL most of the year it can be hot and humid with mosquitoes. I would say sit with mom at her house and visualize your set up to decide what you want to rent. Also, to keep food warm visit a food catering store or look online for burners to keep the food warm and the aluminum trays for it.

You should ask your caterer if they provide tables for the food. In my experience, most do not.

Ask your DJ if they will provide their own table.

You will need an area for your card box and possibly physical gifts if that's common in your circle.

You'll need a table for the cake.

You'll need a place for the guest book if you're having one.

If you're having a bar, you may need to rent one.

I'm not sure what "seating locations" are.

Everyone is different in what they will need but here is my own list of things:

My venue has long (6 ft) tables which seem to be much better suited for things like food and deserts. here's the list of non-guest tables my venue is providing:

    1. Welcome table (holds card box, gifts, also good for displaying family pics if that is a thing you want) and guest print tree (usually guest book)

    2. Desert table

    3 & 4. 2 tables for food

I am having a social hour on the patio so they are providing 4 round cocktail tables for that.

DJ is providing their own work station so they might be able to do the same for you.

I am providing a table to serve as an altar during the ceremony, which will hold our cords and a few other props requested by our officiant.
