Rent or buy dinnerware and flatware?

Jessica, on January 4, 2017 at 10:02 AM Posted in Planning 0 3

Have any of you purchased your own dinnerware and flatware? What are some pros and cons of renting vs buying?

When you buy it you have to clean it, box it up, and take it home with you. No thank you. I don't need 100 place settings boxed up at my house never to be used again!

If you rent you don't have anything physical to show for it after...But you get to give it all back and walk away.

IMO the only plus to buying is you MIGHT be able to resell them after and get some money back...But that requires a lot effort to list, respond to all offers, probably have a bunch fall through, meet up with someone...And that's all assuming someone in your area likes the same dishes you do...

That was one of my concerns if I was to buy. I'm not 100% sure if I want the added stress and responsibility. Thanks for the input!

Does your venue or caterer supply dinnerware and flatware? If not, I would suggest renting. Depending on the size of your guest list, that could be a lot to transport and what if something breaks? While sometimes buying things can be more cost effective, I also believe that paying someone to handle any issues is worth the money spent!
