I think this is a loaded question. In the past, vow renewals were typical for milestone anniversaries, such as 10th/20th/25th, etc. anniversaries. Nowadays, Covid brides are having vow renewals within a year or two of elopement/microweddings in order to have receptions they had to postpone. I think both are perfectly acceptable. Covid couples have been gipped as far as ceremonies/receptions are concerned. However, I am certainly more moved by a couple renewing their vows who have weathered the storms of life together after 10+ years of married life over ones still in the "honeymoon" phase.

I love the idea! Our friends did a 15 year renewal vow in their backyard and it was so nice to celebrate their love and to see their kids celebrate along with them.

I think any excuse to hold a party centered on the ongoing love between two people is a good one to me! As JM said, so many brides and grooms have been ripped off over the last few years by not really being able to have what they want, why shouldn't they renew their vows when it's possible to do so in the way they originally would have liked?
And, I watched this show once where this couple was basically traumatised from their wedding. The venue burnt down, some of their family was arrested for a fight, various other things that I can't remember went wrong, it sounded HORRENDOUS. If they wanted to have a do-over day, they absolutely SHOULD!

If a couple have the funds and want to do it, thinking as a guest, I'd be pretty stoked to attend!

I think they are silly. If you want to do them as a couple that is fine, but to invite guests for a "second wedding" seems overkill. I'mm all for having a grand party to celebrate a milestone but people don't put your guests through a formal vow renewal ceremony.

If you are a COVID bride who had small ceremony with very limited people have a reception only and of course put your dress back on! I would love another opportunity to wear my dress again!

I love the idea of a vowel renewal! They're beautiful and in my opinion are an opportunity to share with family and friends what your love looks like.

I think they are great for milestones (10th, 25th, 50th anniversaries) if the couple chooses. However, they lose the magic and excitement for guests when they are done at 6 months or a year or every year.
