Removing layers from dress?!

Jennifer, on November 28, 2016 at 7:39 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7

I just picked up my wedding dress, the Enzoani Iberia. I absolutely love it. It's a trumpet style so it only flares out a tiny bit below the knees. My only complaint is that there are 6 layers of fabric and it is sooo hot! I really would like to take out most of the layers. Can anyone confirm this is possible? I'd actually prefer for it to hang more delicately anyway toward the bottom, but I'm also very nervous I'll be sweating like crazy!

This is probably a question for your seamstress ...

I just wanted to get the question out there so someone who has already had a similar experience with wanting to remove multiple layers could tell me their story/if its possible. I know the seamstress will ultimately be the one to tell me, but I'm not getting the dress tailored for several months.

I had a few layer of tulle removed from a prom dress in high school, so it's definitely possible to remove layers of tulle from a dress. I'm not sure about your specific dress, I'd check with a seamstress and she'll be able to get you a better answer.

I purchased my dress from a consignment shop - it is a fit and flare. The previous bride removed some of the tulle and it changed the overall look of the dress. I had them add the tulle back in. It honestly wasn't that hot.

Hi Jennifer, welcome to WW! Make sure to upload a picture for your avatar (instead of the default icons) so that we can get to know you and tell you apart from all the other posters.

Any alterations place can remove a few layers, but they may be hesitant to do so because it will change the shape of your dress! Play around with it so you know exactly what you want and then just be firm Smiley smile

Thanks a lot! Does anyone know which layer is the hottest? There are definitely a few different types of fabrics in there, it looks like some tulle, crinoline, and maybe a petticoat? I'm not an expert so I may be using the wrong terms.
