"Relationships Are Auditions To See If Someone Can Be Your Life Partner"

While watching a video from a life and dating coach by the name of Life Coach Shawn she stated "relationships are auditions to see if someone can be your life partner". Do you agree? Why or why not?

Yes and no. I think the vast majority of people hit a point where they agree with this. After a certain point I think we all ask ourselves "what's the point?" And "what do we want?" And most people want one life partner. I did.
I have met some people who just want a companion and will break up with someone after so many years because they're bored. I can't fathom doing that.

I mean... I guess technically speaking it is? Aha but at the same time... It's weird to think of it like that. I suppose when you're dating you're trying to find your match. But saying it as audition sounds not quite right.

For me it was true. I always wanted a life partner not hop around from person to person. Even in my late teens I was like that. Very picky about who I dated. My FW was NOT supposed to be "the one". She was the first person I dated after I had my heart broken by someone else. I was only looking to casually date someone at the time (even though the previous relationship had ended 18 months before). But she was hooked on me and I eventually came around. Here we are still going 13 years later.

For me personally, this wasn't true. I had no intention of marrying FH when we first started dating. In fact, I didn't want to get married at all! It was more for fun than anything. Of course, as I got to know him better, I realized I wouldn't mind spending the rest of our lives together

    I think it's a very interesting analogy.
