Do you expect your relationship to change in any way after you're married? If you're already married, has your relationship changed since the wedding?

My husband and I have been married for a month already (!!!), and I had no expectation of our relationship being different just because we're married. While I don't think our relationship has changed at all, I do think our relationship feels even stronger. I've had a few people ask me how it feels to be married, but it truly doesn't seem all that different to me!

So, WeddingWire: let's hear your opinion! What do you think is/will be different about your relationship after your wedding?

Since getting married this past April, not much has changed in our dynamic, expectations, boundaries, or other tangible aspects of the relationship. I do, though, have more of a sense of security. I feel the way I would if I own the house I live in rather than renting the same house. I still love the house, I still maintain the house, and I’m still putting work into the house, but I have more of a personal investment in it and I take more pride in it. It doesn’t mean I’m changing anything about it, but I do feel more of a solidity in our foundation.

Mine did for the negative, unfortunately. It almost feels as if my husband took the marriage license as a sense of authority and control. After a month being married he took a 180 change and became verbally abusive and even grabbed me by my throat one afternoon after coming home at 4AM excessively drunk.

My husband and I have been married now for a little over 5 months. Our relationship just keeps getting stronger every day. We have both learned from previous marriages that communication is key. We talk about everything and constantly. We couldn’t be happier!!Relationship Changes After Marriage? 1

Our relationship changed a little bit, it's just a different dynamic. What dramatically changed was our relationship with other people. He's the first of his friends to get married and because of that a few of them don't like me very much. Figuring out the balance between each other and everyone else has been the biggest struggles.

Haha, this is my same situation too! My husband and I have been together for almost 9 years, and married for 2 months. I feel like our relationship is stronger, though the relationship itself really hasn't changed.

I've been married for just over two months, and it still gives me butterflies to hear my husband call me his wife! Awesome that your relationship feels more comfortable!

That's a really good analogy with the house! Perfect way to describe the feeling. I feel a similar way, nothing really changed in my relationship, but it just feels stronger.

Oh my gosh - I'm so sorry to hear that! You don't deserve to be treated that way, hopefully he gets help for his issues.

That is an interesting perspective! A bummer that the relationship with those people had to change, but awesome that he puts his marriage to you at the top of his priorities. It's definitely a challenge, but hopefully you all can find a good balance between everything.

There's just something about making it official that makes the relationship feel stronger, but not necessarily different. Awesome that you both are happy in your marriage! Congratulations!!

Yep. Couples may miss the fact that a real change has occurred upon marriage. Glad you have expressed that here.

We are just about to celebrate our one year anniversary!! I wouldn’t say anything is “different” but we have grown stronger and more sure of our goals as a couple over the last year. It’s been an absolutely wonderful year and adventure with my husband!!

Congratulations on your first anniversary!! Awesome that your relationship has grown stronger, and that it's gone so well. Are you planning anything fun to celebrate your first wedding anniversary? If you plan to get each other gifts, are you planning to follow the traditional anniversary gifts by year?

We were together for 18 years before we got married last September so nothing really changed. Everything feels pretty much the same.
