Is a rehearsal at your wedding venue still a thing?

Many people still hold rehearsals either the day before the wedding or even the morning of the wedding! You would ideally host them at the ceremony location, but you could really hold it anywhere. I'm planning on doing a rehearsal at my venue the day before my wedding. They are optional, though if you do have a rehearsal, you should also host a rehearsal dinner, since that is a thank you to your wedding party for attending the rehearsal.

Rehearsals at your venue are still very much a thing (at least it is here in the Midwest). I have noticed, though, a lot of couples are choosing to have their reception dinners at a separate location. We are doing this as well, because we felt as though having dinner at the venue the night before would make the wedding dinner/reception feel redundant. So we have chosen to host the rehearsal dinner in a private room at a local restaurant. I have seen some brides here on WW say they are skipping the rehearsal altogether. I think if you were having a small wedding, or something more informal, you could probably get away with skipping the rehearsal, if you wanted to. I just wanted to make sure everything went smoothly and there was no confusion the evening of our ceremony (as to where everyone lines up, which doors they will be walking through, their queue to begin walking, exactly where they will go to stand, etc.), so a rehearsal is important for us. Plus, we wanted to take the opportunity to thank our parents and wedding party by treating them to an amazing meal and cocktails.

Yes, they're still a thing! Like Ava, we're having our rehearsal dinner at a separate location. It was going to be an extra $500 JUST to have the rehearsal dinner there, not including food lol.

If you're having a smaller wedding and have a small wedding party, then I think it's fine to skip it, but otherwise I think they're beneficial to ensure everything goes smoothly! Everyone gets to practice their queues, and anyone wearing heels can practice walking in them!

Yes it is. Rehearsals are still necessary. To practice walking in to the music, getting everyone in the right places, etc. Many people have never been in weddings before so they need all the practice they can get before the wedding day.

Definitely! We're doing our rehearsal at the venue and then going elsewhere for dinner. Still not sure exactly where, but it'll be a really casual dinner and probably will just be pizza or BBQ with sodas and beer.
