Rehearsal outfit?

Kathy, on April 13, 2018 at 10:25 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7

We are getting married with a full catholic mass at our church... so I'm wondering how I should dress for the rehearsal and following dinner... we are pretty laid back, casual people, so I was thinking nice pants and a shirt, but is that wrong?

Some of the participants have asked and I told them casual, but should I be dressed up a bit more? Maybe a skirt? I'm not big on dresses... I get to wear jeans to work everyday, so my dress up wardrobe is limited lol.

thanks Smiley smile

What are you wearing for your actual ceremony? Personally, I'm wearing a floor-length ivory dress on my wedding day and will probably wear a shorter ivory dress to my RD.

At what type of place are you having the dinner? I think that should determine how you dress. I wore a red cocktail dress to my RD, which was at a nice restaurant. If you're going somewhere very casual for dinner, then pants and a top are fine. If you're going to a nicer place, I'd wear a dress. You're the bride, IMO, you should be more dressed to stand out from your guests. Treat yourself to something new!

I would probably dress up a bit more but if you're not feeling like going out and buying a new dress just fine the rehearsal then don't! Do you have a light colored skirt? I don't know what your wedding party will wear that night but I just wouldn't want to feel underdressed next to everyone else!

I also do think nice pants and a shirt would be fine if that's what your comfortable in and what people would probably expect you to wear.

I have a long ivory wedding dress for the actual day... the dinner is at a small local restaurant we know everyone in both families already loves...

Maybe i'll see if I get a chance to shop this week and find a dress... I guess if I'm gonna dress up, this would be the occasion LOL

Our rehearsal is at our church and the dinner is at a restaurant nearby. It has a modern-casual feel - people wear everything from dresses to jeans to golf attire (down the street from a golf course). I will probably wear a maxi skirt and nice top. I don't want to feel too dressed up and out of place because I don't think anyone else will be too dressed up.

I don't know if you have a contract with the Church, but we do, and in it, dress code is specified. Basically, it's no shorts and respectful attire. Usually pants are allowed, but some churches frown on jeans.

We are also doing a full, traditional mass. Our church has told us anything we'd wear to a church function is fine. However, we are Episcopalian, so jeans and t-shirts are acceptable at non-mass functions. I will probably end up wearing a white dress of some kind to the rehearsal, but I'm also wearing my petticoat and wedding shoes (the last thing I want to do is wipe out on the marble steps to the altar!). So, whatever I wear to the actual rehearsal will be obscured anyway.
