Rehearsal Dress

FutureMrsM, on December 20, 2017 at 9:10 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 18
A bit of an odd question, but are there any rules about what you wear for the rehearsal dinner?

We’re getting married in Florida (where we live) but it will essentially be a destination wedding for our guests as almost all are coming from OOT. So our rehearsal dinner the night before the wedding is going to be a big party, open to all who are already in town and any who happen to live here.

The real question: can I wear a long white dress to this party the night before my wedding? Or is that odd? My fiancé and I both expected I’d end up with a form fitting wedding gown. To my shock, I fell in love and purchased a ball gown for the big day. I’m wondering if I can get my little taste of a form fitting white lace dress in the night before and wondering if that would seem odd to anyone.

I have no idea what's expected to wear or if a white dress would be weird. I've only seen casual clothes like jeans or slacks with a ncie top, maybe a nice dress.

No, a white dress is fine. Normally you wear like a cocktail dress..a knee length of longer dress. Any color is fine.

You can wear whatever you want, it's just a rehearsal. I'll be in a t-shirt and jeans or shorts or whatever I throw on that day. If you want to make it a nice affair with a white dress, go for it!

You can wear whatever makes you happy .. I ended up with a short Navy dress but was considering white, I just never found one I liked.

A white dress wouldn't get a lot of wear in my closet and we're having a rehearsal lunch not dinner, so it'll be a more casual affair. Haven't decided what to wear 100%, but may end up in jeans and a cute top.

I wouldn't think anything of it if I was at a rehearsal dinner where the bride wore a white long dress. As long as it's not an actual wedding gown it's fine.

I'm wearing a wedding dress pantsuit for my rehearsal, I think it is neat to follow the "I'm a bride" theme throughout the weekend.

I'm wearing a grey suit. Wear what you like. Some people wear white, but I don't think there's a dress code.

If that's what you want to wear, then wear it. I went to my reversal straight from the pool in my swimsuit and cover up. Then went right back to the pool. Everyone else did the same thing. Then changed into casual a casual white dress for dinner with everyone later.

I don’t think the color of the dress for shower, rehearsal has to be white - however I personally like the idea of it and don’t think its weird! I don’t ever wear white (I am very fair complected) but this will be the time for me to wear something white (when it gets closer to our date). I think as long as you are dressed up its fine! I was in a wedding once, and the bride showed up in a sports bra, tank (see through), shorts, and wet hair to the rehearsal.... everyone was dressed up, but her.... it was super awkward but only explains how the whole wedding went down from that point on! Anyways, I just personally feel like this is the time to dress up more than you probably will for other events and its all about you guys, so you wanna stand out and look good!

My grandma got married in a lovely tea-length dress, I was thinking of wearing that to the dinner we're hosting the night before. (Not a RD, just dinner for OOT guests and anyone else who feels like it)

In my circle I've always seen the bride wear some kind of white dress at the rehearsal as well. Casual enough that it wouldn't be a wedding dress of course. I'm planning on a white dress with a floral print.

I wouldn't think anything of it so long as it's not crazy extravagant. I think you should totally embrace this bridal period. I usually wear mostly black but I'm psyched to pick out some white dresses for these kinda thingsSmiley smile

I'm going to wear a fantastic little black dress i have in my closet. White clothes dont get much wear from me, so its a cost i'm going to skip.

wear what you want to wear - its your wedding and rehearsal. i dont think there are any problems with wearing a white dress the night before your wedding... its your day do what you want!

There are no rehearsal dinner rules but...

I'd say the trend is that brides wear white during their shower and bachelorette parties. I've also seen brides wear white during their rehearsal dinner - so why not? Go ahead!
