Rehearsal dinner

Janae, on September 2, 2021 at 9:18 PM Posted in Planning 0 8
Wedding is in October (well next month) and I'm trying figure out rehearsal dinner times. I actually want to do it early around 2/3pm. I just don't want to have a late dinner the day before the wedding. When ik I'm gonna be busy getting things together. Anyone doing there's early or think it would be weird to?

The only drawback I see is that if it is on a Friday your wedding party will have to miss work to attend. I prefer the later rehearsals so I don’t have to leave work too early, especially if using time for a bachelorette party too.

You could eat first, rehearse after?

I wouldn’t ask my bridal party to take off work for an early rehearsal , so I’d plan it around what is convenient for them. We actually skipped an actual rehearsal bc most of our bridal party was coming in from out of town. We did a welcome party near the hotel that had a firm end time so we didn’t stay up too late Smiley winking . Actually I found having somethint at the end of the day helpful, all day I was finishing up projects, and I’m sure I could’ve stayed up all night perfecting things. It was nice to have to set everything down and leave to go to the welcome party and finally get to relax and visit with people.

The rehearsal dinner is a thank you to the important people in your wedding for being there to support you. If I was asked to take off at least a half day of work to attend, that is somewhat the opposite of a thank you. Furthermore, if you do the rehearsal after the dinner anyone who can’t get off will be there for the work part of the event but not the thankful part… I would advise against this timing unless it absolutely can’t be avoided.

I know you said your reasoning is to get things together, but is there a reason why you can't get everything together at 2-3 pm instead (aka before the rehearsal and dinner)?

Glad I posted here because I didn't think it through. I agree I wouldn't expect anyone to have to take off of work(didn't think about that). I'll just plan for a rehearsal dinner and won't do it early. Thanks ladies.
