Rehearsal Dinner vs Lunch

Christina and Cerrone's Winter Wedding, on January 12, 2014 at 9:13 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 12

Ladies, are you having a rehearsal dinner? i was thinking of doing a rehearsal lunch instead. I cant decide what to serve though. We have a choice of healthy wraps, a deli buffet or a taco bar. Does this idea seem cheesy? Should we consider doing a dinner? Do we have to have a dinner or lunch?

We haven't decided what we are going to do yet but I feel you should do whatever you feel comfortable with that fits in your budget.

The only issue with doing a lunch instead of a dinner is that of your rehearsal is on a week day people have to take a day off from work for it.

I'd say do whatever fits into your budget. Very few of my couples actually have rehearsals but most do some kind of get-together. Not having an actual rehearsal gives you a little more freedom to plan whatever you you want. But consider who can come to a day event vs a night one.

I personally think that a more casual, relaxed event is more fun; the whole next day is going to be timelines and obligations (even happy ones). Make the RD relaxed and fun.

I think the taco bar idea is delicious! And if everyone is available to do a lunch go for it. We did pizza and beer at my FILs for our rehearsal dinner and it was very fun and relaxed

I like the lunch idea - more casual. Unfortunately, we aren't allowed to book a rehearsal at our venue until after 4PM on weekdays. If you can do a lunch, I'd do it.

We're having pizza. After the rehearsal, people are staying behind to help me decorate and then pizza for everyone!

We are having a dinner. FH and I are preparing the food ourselves. We have not chosen the menu, but I am sure chicken, spaghetti, lasagna and salads will be on the menu.

Love this idea. The Taco Bar would be a big hit.

The hotel where we have accomodations, will give us the banquet room for a low price and cater the food for us. We're getting married on a Saturday so the rehearsal will be friday evening. I'm hoping that those who agreed to be part of our bridal party wouldnt mind using half a day or a full day of vacation to rehearse the night before. if they can make lunch then hopefully they can make the rehearsal. Its not all set in stone but we're trying to put it together. i just dont wanna go over my budget. If it takes us over our budget then i will just cut it out all together.

Thanks for your feedback Smiley smile
