Rehearsal dinner two nights before wedding?

Josie, on July 12, 2018 at 11:16 AM Posted in Planning 0 12
Is it weird/not correct to have your rehearsal dinner two nights before the wedding? We are getting married on a Sunday. My FH is a firefighter and works a 24hr shift on Saturday, so we can’t do the dinner on Saturday. Would it be weird to do it friday? It would be

friday- rehearsal dinner
Saturday - FH leaves 7am for work
sunday - FH Returns from work 7am & we get married later that day 😁

seems crazy but what can you do when you’re marrying a firefighter? He already has taken many days off for our honeymoon and I doubt he can squeeze in another.

Thank you! Everywhere I look online says it’s “supposed to be” the night before. Besides the fact that my fiancé has work, it seems crazy busy last second to do that the night before!

I'm doing mine a week before, because it is the most convenient for everyone involved. I've found great joy in embracing the fact that "supposed to" isn't "have to."

Not weird at all if everyone is local. We are having ours the night before only because most guests are having to travel.

Wait. So he’s getting off work at 7am and then 8 hours later or so is getting married? Will he get to sleep? Is there no one that can take his shift since he is getting married?!

I don't think it's unreasonable! Especially if whoever you are inviting lives in town and isn't traveling. If people are traveling, it may be harder for them to arrive an extra day early.

It’s only unreasonable if your wedding party won’t be local then so would be unable to attend. Otherwise, it really doesn’t matter

No, I don’t think it’s weird or wrong! Our wedding is on a Friday night so we’re doing the rehearsal the Sunday before so no one has to take extra time off of work/school to do it on the night before the wedding.

We will be having the rehearsal on a Thursday for our Friday wedding for many reasons. One being that we want to be able to have a quiet relaxing night before the wedding. The wedding party agreed that they would prefer a night in between too so they can enjoy a few drinks at the RD. Your reasons seem better than ours!

I agree! Another reason we want to do ours early is so there is time to fix any problems that may arise. While we have an easy all-inclusive reception, the ceremony is more planning and coordination. It will be nice to have time to chat with everyone involved.
