Hi all! I’m trying to figure out if doing a dinner after the rehearsal is like a total must. It’s going to be a lot of people from both of our sides and it’s going to be another added expense. Is it better to explain we can’t afford it but want to do a dinner if people want to (as in assuming they would pay for their own food) or better to just do the rehearsal and that is all?

We are doing a pizza buffet, pop, and some small desserts (cookies, brownies, etc.). We are going to have right around 40 people for the rehearsal and it’s coming out to less than $500. This includes renting a small event space. People will totally understand, the main event is the next day anyways! My brother had a cookout type rehearsal dinner for his. Hotdogs and hamburgers in my parents backyard. We played yard games and had a bonfire. It was quite a hit and everyone enjoyed a little relaxing time before the big day.

We are going to do something simple...order some pizza and hangout in the parish hall of our church. Nothing over the top but should still be fun.
