Rehearsal dinner on a budget

FutureMrs.Lockhart, on November 2, 2016 at 12:04 AM Posted in Planning 0 41

Ok so where are you planning on doing your rehearsal dinner? How many people are attending? Will you be providing alcohol ? What is your budget. I'm really trying to do something simple that won't break the bank? Any suggestions ? Also, are you having it the day before the wedding ? Or a couple days before ? I'd rather have two days before but it seems as though it's going to be more convenient for the wedding party to do it the night before : /

    Pizza parlor.

Immediate family (we didn't have a bridal party).

    Night before.

We were lucky enough to have MIL host.

We are doing our rehearsal at the venue from 6-7pm and then dinner and drinks at our house at 7:30pm.

We ordered food and bought alcohol and other drinks.

We will have 20 people and I think we will stay within $300 for food and drinks

We had a bonfire as or rehearsal "dinner." For some people it's not ideal, especially if it's the day before the wedding because it could cause some hair issues, and it also depends on the time of year but for us it was a huge hit and went perfectly. We just invited our bridal party/anyone involved in the ceremony, so about 20 people came. We served chili, chips, hot dogs, smores.... I thought it was a great time and no one complained. It was fun.

We have our rehearsal 2 days before. Just inviting parents and bridal party not spouses. Going to take them to a local restaurant that's isn't overly expensive but still nice.

Probably going to a pizza restaurant that serves sandwiches as well with immediate family & bridal party the night before.

It's tradition to have an 8 course meal in my culture at the rehearsal dinner. That seems a bit much to me though, so im not sure what im going to do.

Most of my FH's family is coming from out of state so we're kind of planning on just grilling out at one of our parents' houses the night before so everyone can hang out and relax and not feel cooped up in a hotel room their entire visit

We're actually in a bit of a pickle regarding the rehearsal. The venue just informed us that the only time the space is available for a rehearsal is from 11 am-4 pm the day before. I just spoke to my boss about it. She's not 100% sure she can let me leave work early. :-(

Church basement, ordering Portillos catering, around 30-35 people will be invited, and since this will be at the church it's not looking likely for us to be serving alcohol for this dinner. As for budget, my FIL's are offering to host this, and a relative is a manager at one of the restaurants so she is going to be getting us a discount. Right now with the church basement rental included it's estimated to cost around $200ish

I am not having a rehersal because I don't have a wedding party. As a suggestion though for a dinner I am fine with pizza. If you can do it at someones house I would provide the pizza and maybe some beer.

And do it the night before if that is what is convienent for your wedding party.

My ffil and fmil are paying for it, so she made the final decision which is way more formal than I would have chosen. I told her I'd be cool ordering pizza and eating it at the venue (even though I personally dislike pizza). I have her some other suggestions for BBQ places and other cheapish options... instead she chose a nice Italian places.

Generally it's always best to do it the night before unless your bridal party is all local. If you are wanting to be able to relax the night before you could always have a rehearsal lunch and then do the actual rehearsal right after lunch.

Only people directly involved (bridal party and spouses/ children, officiant and his wife, ushers, immediate family, musicians, DOC and decorator) so a total of 32 for us

I'm having it 2 days before at the chapel that it's going to be at and providing pizza. (There's a reception room right behind it) It's just going to be groomsmen, bridesmaids, flower girl, and ring bearer.

You don't have to have a rehearsal dinner. My venue said that some people choose to have their rehearsal the morning of the wedding. I just won't have time to do that so we are having a rehearsal dinner the night before. We are going to a restaurant, not proving alcohol. If you're trying to save some money have everyone go to your house and a caterer from a restaurant nearby.

We are having it at my parents house. They have a nice backyard. It will only be immediate family and bridal party. Not sure on the alcohol part yet. FFIL is a recovering alcoholic. Budget wise idk. We just want simple catering, nothing fancy so probably just a few hundred dollars max. We're doing it the day before as I will be out of town until then (I'm scared to see how that entire week goes if I'm not able to be there until the day before)

@AlmostMrsBB- So jealous of your portillos catering. That was our first choice but we didn't have a place to hold it other than the restaurant and they don't rent out their rooms during the holidays. Yum.
