Rehearsal Dinner.. necessary or no?

K, on March 6, 2018 at 11:02 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 4
FH and I are having a destination wedding in Florida on Saturday, May 12th. The only time we can do a rehearsal at our venue is the Thursday before the wedding, but 4 of our bridesmaids/groomsmen don’t fly in until Friday the 11th.

We have the venue all day Saturday 7a.m. to 11p.m. So my coordinator suggested we just do a quick run-through that morning, which I think would be fine since the guys will all be standing up next to FH anyway. Only the 4 girls will walk, and then me with my father and step father.

We are doing a “girls night out” and “guys night out” Friday the 11th for a couple hours and want to treat our guests to apps and drinks then. That being said, is it wrong of us not to do a rehearsal dinner? The only day that would really work is that Thursday before the wedding, but most of our BP won’t be able to attend. We can’t do it before we fly out, as half our family is in one State, and half is in another.

Just skip the rehearsal then no dinner is necessary. I think you're wedding party is small enough its not needed. Just discuss whats going to happen in the morning when everyone is there.

I would skip it and just continue with your girls/guys night out Smiley smile sounds like a fun plan~

I don't think it's necessary if you're doing something similar (it sounds like) on Friday evening. You could always do a lunch on Friday or a breakfast, or a happy hour if you felt it was necessary. It's more to thank everyone involved in the wedding and bring them together, which you're doing already.

I'd skip the rehearsal, especially if most of the wedding party won't be there. Then it's absolutely find to skip the rehearsal dinner.
