Rehearsal Dinner Mini Freakout

on July 22, 2019 at 8:42 PM Posted in Planning 0 7
Mkay, so we're getting married on October 27, 2019, and the last thing we need to do is find a location for the rehearsal dinner (really just a dinner to get our families together. It's been 5 years since they've seen each other. And for a chance for the bridal party to meet). Unfortunately, we're not able to use the venue for that, which is a huge bummer. We were thinking of either finding a large house to rent close to the venue, or just having the rehearsal dinner at my parent's house. The issue is, that finding a large enough house is beginning to be such a pain lol. Either they're $2k for a night, or they're totally booked. And I would have no reservations about doing it at my parent's house, but it's almost 3 hours away from the venue, so we'd have to leave a bit early to get to the venue to get ready and whatnot. Should also add in here that we considered hotels, but apparently there's a huge event going on in the same town at the venue (would've been nice to know that ahead of time, but the venue's wedding coordinator conveniently left that out until it was too late to change the date), so all of the hotels are booked that night. I don't mind waking up a little early and making the drive down there, but I don't want to royally piss off my bridal party, haha. I'm trying to make this as convenient as possible. I'm sure I left a lot out, but this whole wedding planning process has me all over the place lmaooo. Hhhheeellllppppp!

Have you looked for places that are close by the venue? Like maybe only an hour away rather than the 3? It's possible you may find something reasonable that isn't fully booked up.

We tried larger houses that were an hour away, and they were also pretty expensive. But I’ll keep looking!

    1) Congratulatons for getting married on my birthday, it's the best day of the year. Smiley laugh

    2) I"m not sure of your timeline, or what the weather may be like for you, but what about booking a pavilion at a local park?

Haha yay!! Thank you! And we found some local spots to actually hold the dinner, but we weren’t able to find enough places to reserve for the bridal party and our families to spend the night. We found a couple, but then quite a few people would have to sleep on air mattresses, and that wouldn’t be ideal😂 I didn’t think this would be the thing I would stressing out about the most!

How about at a restaurant or pizza place?

Have the rehearsal dinner at a local restaurant close to your venue. Your BP and families can then stay wherever they had already planned to stay the night before or day of the wedding. Block some rooms at hotels close to your venue and then guests can book their own rooms and pick for themselves.
