rehearsal dinner invite wording

Cindy, on July 12, 2010 at 1:44 PM Posted in Planning 0 8

Anyone have any advice for this one? I'm lost. Does the invite just mention the dinner at the restaurant or should it also mention the actual "rehearsal at the venue? We are doing the rehearsal at the venue and then from there going to the restaurant for the dinner. I also set up the RSVP on my website with the dinner options so we wouldn't need reply cards.

Can I see what you all are doing?

How formal is your rehearsal dinner going to be? You may be able to just to simple invites with the "For", "Date", "Time", "Place", etc. If more formal you could do something similiar to your wedding invites but have the wording say..

    .

We invite you to the rehearsal dinner for

    Cindy ...

    &

    Husband...

    on Friday, October First

    Two thousand and ten

    .

    Location

    Address

    .

& possibly provide a contact name/number inside the invite somewhere just in case people need to call. (?) This is me guessing on a whime Smiley smile

It is going to be somewhat informal. It's at a Restaurant/Bar that isn't all that fancy, but the food is rockin! Out menu options are Stuffed Lobster, Filet Mignon, and Chicken Parm. It will prob be better food then the wedding itself. Ha! Smiley laugh

I'm just not sure if you mention the "practice" or actual "rehearsal" part in the invitation...

I'll be sending out informal invitations with for, date, time and place. I'll also include with that a time-line of when/where I expect people to be for the rehearsal and the day of. For example, the men need to go pick up their tuxes before the rehearsal and we only have the venue for so long for decorating and the rehearsal so I want everyone to know what is expected of them.

Here is a sample Rehearsal Dinner invitation (Tea length) and a sample response with meal choices, there are many options for this. But this should get you started.

I'm just wording mine like a party invite... so and so invite you to the celebrate at the rehearsal dinner on blah blah at blah blah... etc...

I don't know about you but there are people invited to my rehearsal dinner that don't have to come to the actual rehearsal, so I'll be sending rehearsal dinner invites out to everyone invited and just spread the rehearsal time and location at the venue by word of mouth...

@Danielle — That is a really good idea to include the timelines in there for the Bridal Party. I have been working on that too. Thanks for the suggestion!

@ Kelseyj — That is true too. Not a bad idea. I don't have a huge bridal party so it wouldn't be hard to just spread the word about the rehearsal too.

@Danielle M — I do like her wording! Very cute! I may have to borrow that too if I decide to include the rehearsal.

    Thanks everyone! Smiley laugh
