Rehearsal Dinner Invitations

rica, on February 28, 2018 at 9:39 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 7
We are doing an extremely informal rehearsal dinner, but I like the idea of sending invitations to have a paper reminder, like every other wedding event. I had been planning on making something to include when we send invitations, but the formal wedding invitations and the informal rehearsal don't seem to work together.

Should we:

Use more formal inserts for the rehearsal to match the wedding stationary, even though it's super laid back?

Or is it okay to just stick something cute and fun in there?

I'm sending my rehearsal dinner invites separately, closer to the actual event (like 2-3 weeks before). I know it's not necessary, but like you, I just like the idea of having the paper reminder!

I think you can include an insert. My mother did that for my brother’s wedding, since all wedding guests were invited to a BBQ the night before. You can make the two pieces have a cohesive look even if one is more informal.

the other nice thing about mailing them together is that your guests get the complete wedding information all at one time. This is especially good if people are traveling and trying to make plane reservations.

for my wedding we mailed them out several weeks later, but I wish we would’ve just made an insert and been done with it.

I’ve always received rehearsal dinner invitations separately and the rsvp was to the grooms family since they were the hosts.

This might be more reasonable to send them closer. I feel like I’m going crazy with mail between save the dates, shower invites people will get, shower thank yous, invitations, etc! Smiley smile

Everyone invited to the RD is local, which makes it easier, but you have a point there just getting everything done with! Maybe I can find a simpler invitation that just matches the color scheme and design of the wedding invitations. Thanks!

We are sending ours separately! We got super informal cards too, so they didn't really go with the wedding invites. Plus, I love sending stuff to friends and family so I didn't mind the extra work Smiley smile

I'm glad I'm not the only one enjoying sending mail! I feel so dorky but I've always enjoyed sending Christmas cards, etc. My elementary school had this cool program that got us to write letters almost 20 years ago and I totally blame it on that lol.

I just don't want my family thinking I'm crazy with wedding-related mail coming once a month for the next 6 months! (save the dates, shower invitations from my MOH, shower thank yous, wedding invites, RD invites, wedding thank yous...)
