Rehearsal Dinner Gifts

Sarah, on June 1, 2016 at 2:59 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 9

So we have gifts for our wedding party and parents, and I have read before that they are usually given at the RD. My question is: When?

Should we do it before, after toasts, after it's over? We could also give our gifts at the actual rehearsal and before going to the dinner.

What's common etiquette here since obviously not everyone at the RD is receiving a gift?

We did in the middle of our meal right after our thank you speech to everyone. But everyone there (minus the significant others) got a gift so no one felt awkward while we were giving them out.

I'm not quite sure either...I do know that I want to give the parents gifts during the getting ready process on the wedding day. I was thinking about giving the bridal party their gifts at the rehearsal dinner when everyone was done eating but still sitting there visiting. Honestly, we might wait to do everyone the day of the wedding. I guess I didn't help here with your question lol

We are giving ours out the night of the rehearsal but will find a private time to do it so we are not selectively gifting during dinner. (My plan is to try to hand them out as we are leaving the chapel and heading to dinner so they can store them in their cars).

Thank you ladies! I'm thinking it might be best to do it after the rehearsal at the venue, before the dinner. Similar to your plan Heather

Our venue has a bride & groom cottage on site and we are are all staying together in them the night before the wedding so I will probably give them out after we settle in for the night after the rehearsal dinner.

We're giving them at the rehearsal dinner, but the only people who will be there are the wedding party, their SOs, and FH daughter who declined to be in the BP. She has agreed to do a reading, so I will get her a gift, too.

We gave our parents gifts right after the meal. Both sets contributed to the wedding and we wanted to publicly say thanks, there wasn't any weirdness.
