Rehearsal Dinner Dress!

Madi, on March 28, 2024 at 5:29 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 12
Hello all!

I’m getting married in June in Texas, and I need help figuring out if my rehearsal dinner dress is suitable! Context: I LOVE the skirt/top set that I ordered for the rehearsal dinner dress. I love the light linen material and think it’s perfect especially for the heat in Texas! However, my sister is worried that since it is a full length skirt and it’s all white, it will take away from the awe of my fiance seeing me in my wedding dress the next day. I definitely don’t want that! But I can’t find a shorter dress that I love and I feel so confident in this set and I think it can be dressed down some with shoes/hair/jewelry What are your thoughts? Should I keep looking for a short dress or wear this one? If I wear this set, do you think it preempts or lessens the effect of the wedding dress the next day? I attached pictures of my wedding dress and also the rehearsal dinner skirt and top!
Thanks everyone! Rehearsal Dinner Dress! 1

Ordinarily I’d say no problem, but your two dresses are REALLY similar. I wouldn’t want to wear two so similar, but that’s really your call.

I agree. The two are so similar in style that in your place I’d look for something else. It doesn’t have to be white either.

I agree with PP. I’d probably wear something with a completely different silhouette and color.

Wear whatever you want. Many brides don’t wear white or dresses to the rehearsal dinner. Sister is overthinking which is adding to your apprehension and uncertainty. At the same time, it’s not uncommon or unlucky for the groom to see the dress or similar styles of clothes beforehand nor do all couples follow superstitions. Do what works for you and then sister and others need to do their thing when it’s their turn.

I honestly did a double take thinking it was the same dress. Both are lovely, but very similar if you are okay with that.

They only really look similar from the waist down. If you want a change, maybe hem the skirt to tea length and possibly add some iron on embroidery appliques?

Why don’t you just hem it a bit?

Also you’ll be all done up on your wedding day so I think he’ll be wowed no matter what 😊

If you have any concerns that your first look will be less that spectacular, you might consider having the bottom hemmed up just to tea length, which may give the dress new life after the festivities are over. You could potentially wear it for Easter or as a summer dress. I think he be in awe on your wedding day no matter what you wear before Smiley heart

Both dresses are good, but I have to agree with the majority here.

I feel this! Can be hard swimming upstream on these forums.

For someone who clearly knows what looks good on her cause both dresses look great, don't worry about similarities. A similar silhouette is bound to happen if you know your body type. The rehearsal dinner dress is clearly more casual in style and fabrics, so it's a win in my book.

The decision on wearing that reception dress favors you just doing what works for you. Your sister's concern sort of prompts people to follow what she says. But in reality, your fiancé will appreciate your look on both days and probably wouldn't notice any similarity either.
