Rehearsal Dinner Dessert

Yourlilfig, on July 31, 2016 at 9:44 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 9

I was wondering if it's expected that there will be dessert at the rehearsal dinner? Both FH's parents and my own asked about cake and we hadn't planned on it. We're having hibachi and I feel like no one is going to have room for dessert, the portions are huge. The last thing I want is a bunch of leftover cake, the night before the wedding, which will probably lead to more leftover desserts haha. TIA

If you were planning on doing a grooms cake maybe do it at the rehearsal dinner? Or cupcakes? Then you can bring little boxes for people to take them home in.

We didn't have dessert, we had so much leftover food though. We did the pizza and beer route.

I was wondering the same thing. We are just doing the pizza and beer thing and I wasn't sure (still not) if we should/will do a dessert. In curious what others have done or are doing.

I wasn't really planning on providing dessert. But, we're also doing a rehearsal lunch. It's a Sunday wedding, and our venue had other events Friday and Saturday night.

We're going to an italian place up the road from our venue. The pre-set menu includes dessert so we're having chocolate cake and chocolate chip cannolis Smiley smile luckily that's 2 days before our wedding! Ha!!

We did a pizza & beer welcome party (we had so many OOT guests). We had some sweets - cookies & cannoli. We didn't want cake 2 nights in a row. We had a few people take some sweets, but not many.

I ordered a groom's cake for dessert for the rehearsal dinner. We are having our rehearsal dinner at a sports bar/grill, very casual, just the wedding party and their SOs. I'm pretty sure I can send cake home with some of them for a midnight snack!

FH hates sweets, but FMIL loves sweets. We're having the dinner itself catered and FMIL is planning to bring desserts. She mentioned cream puffs, mini eclairs, and cookies.

We're having our rehearsal dinner at a nearby restaurant...so they can order dessert if they want.
