Is it normal protocol for an event space (at a restaurant) to charge a per head charge for food, per drink charge, server hours (for setup/cleanup as well as event time) + gratuity? It seems excessive to us. We will have a maximum of 25 people and we are looking at almost $80 per person for the...

Is it normal protocol for an event space (at a restaurant) to charge a per head charge for food, per drink charge, server hours (for setup/cleanup as well as event time) + gratuity? It seems excessive to us. We will have a maximum of 25 people and we are looking at almost $80 per person for the rehearsal dinner.... for buffet style taco station and open bar. I just want to see if this sounds normal because our reception venue isn't even charging this much.

    That seems expensive- my rehearsal dinner venue is charging FIL's $22 pp for italian buffet, and they're also hosting a consumption beer/wine bar.. I don't think it's even going to come close to $80pp

    That's more than our reception catering! If you aren't comfortable spending that much don't do it.
