Rehearsal dinner before the actual rehearsal?

Katie, on September 23, 2013 at 6:36 PM Posted in Planning 0 11

My church just contacted me telling me that the ONLY time we could have our rehearsal is at 8:15pm on Saturday. There's multiple weddings and first communions and confirmations the same weekend. Our wedding is Sunday at 3pm. Is it strange to have an early rehearsal dinner then head to the rehearsal after? I don't see any other options for us unless we wanted to be out late the night before the wedding. Majority of thr bridal party is staying at the hotel the night before so after the rehearsal we can head back to the hotel to relax. Has anyone else had this happen to them? (Sorry for any errors I wrote this from my phone!)

No biggie at all. At least there's a smaller chance for them of showing up late!

We're having a full Catholic ceremony and not all of our bp is Catholic so I think it will be good to have there so they know what to expect. Plus one of my bm's is going to sing Ave Marie during the ceremony.

Can you do it on a Friday night instead? I'm just thinking that you guys will probably be having a great time at dinner and it would suck to pack it up to go to the rehearsal.

Should be fine-- just make sure you start your dinner early enough so everyone can get a good chat in before you all leave for the church (although you could certainly go out again afterward if your town is open that late) that is the only possible problem I can see-- that people won't be done socializing when it's time to 'get to work'. But with the wedding mere hours away, they should be able to pause it all, rehearse, and then pick up where they left off.

We had our rehearsal dinner at 5:30 and our rehearsal began at 7 for our Catholic ceremony. There were no problems at all with the rehearsal being beforehand!! My siblings and I went out for wine afterwards, which was a nice little moment before the big day! .

I feel so much better about having the dinner before hand! We're planning on inviting everyone back to the hotel and have something like wine and snacks. @OTW so true! I doubt anyone will be late for a free meal, then they have to be on time for the rehearsal!

I actually think that dinner beforehand is a great idea - everyone will be a) there and able to attend b) able to pay attention and have everything fresh for the next morning!

    It will be great!
