Rehearsal Dinner Attire for Bride

Cathy, on September 23, 2019 at 10:14 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 12
What are you supposed to wear for the rehearsal dinner? We are having a semi formal sit down dinner at a steak house. Pinterest shows me nothing but white dresses, of which I don’t own any.
I was thinking of a red or purple strapless, but that seems too formal for a rehearsal dinner. The other option was a business suit dress or a standard long dress.

thoughts? What do people usually wear?

I would just wear a nice knee length-ish dress. No particular color or style really, just something you'd wear to a nice dinner party or something Smiley smile

I went casual but still in a dress. I didn't wear white. I just wore whatever I felt like that day

I have every intention of being in jeans and a hoodie. We are a casual group though.

I wore a light blue maxi dress! I’m not a fan of wearing all white for all pre-wedding events lol I feel like it’s overdone and I wanted to save white for the wedding Smiley smile I feel like a light pastel dress was still bridal enough Smiley smile

I bought a while, floor length dress from Lulu. Totally simple, but classic. (opposite of my wedding dress, which is a ballgown)

Choose something that's your style but maybe isn't reflected in your wedding dress.

You can wear anything you'd like! I'm probably not even going to purchase a whole new dress for the RD. Do what you want Smiley heart

Honestly I think you should wear whatever makes you comfortable. We had s beach wedding so I wore a floral maxi dress for mine.

I think it depends on what your rehearsal dinner will be like and just plain what you feel comfortable in. One of my best friends wore a black lacey vintage-style tea dress. I plan on wearing the dress below, possibly with a shawl or something, because that's just straight up what I want to wear & it will be appropriate for our dinner venue. I personally decided to avoid white, as I want my wedding dress to have that much more of a punch, as opposed to my fiance having seen me in white the day before and all that.

I'd say for you though, if you want to wear the red or purple you totally should!! Unless they're like ball gowns, I doubt you could over dress being that its a sit down dinner. Maybe add some pictures of them and we could all tell you what we think??

If you're not looking to buy something then I would wear your favorite "cocktail" dress from your closet, fancy but formal enough.

I'm wearing a jumpsuit Smiley smile
