Rehearsal Dilemma

Courtney, on June 3, 2020 at 8:28 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 8
We are getting married June 20th. Our state and venue are allowing us to have ceremony outside with proper social distancing measures. I messaged the pastor that will be marrying us yesterday and asked if 5 pm on Friday June 19th would be okay to do rehearsal as we are having a low key rehearsal dinner. We were going to eat pizza at a local restaurant, but because they arent allowing dine in...my FH is going to pick up the pizza at 630 and we will eat outside at venue. The pastor replies with.... I'll have to see if I can get off work early.... which is completely understandable. But even if we pushed the rehearsal back an hour, he would still have to take off work early. The venue is 45 mins from our town.

I'm trying not to stress about it. I know it is not something I can control. I think of our two friends that got married in 2018. The preacher that was suppose to do the wedding was at the rehearsal, but was hospitalized the next morning so they had to call in someone else. I just feel like I want everyone to know what they're suppose to do and when they're suppose to do it on the 20th. Hopefully everything will work out.

I'm sure it will all work out just fine. At this point, he hasn't even said he can't come, so there's nothing to worry about!

I'm sure your pastor is experienced. Maybe meet with him in person before hand and talk things through so if he can't be present for the rehearsal at least you and your FH spoke to him in advance.

Our officiant is well versed and says other than an arrival time, we don't need a rehearsal. I believe we have to have confidence in the professionals, do a walk through with those that are unfamiliar.

Don't stress, it will all work out, I promise

Could you maybe Facetime him if he can't make it on time? I know that wouldn't be perfect but at least you could kind of have someone stand in his place?

We had our officiant and his wife at our rehearsal, but our venue coordinate kept trying to tell our officiant and his wife how to run the ceremony. We listened to his advice since he was the actual officiant and would running the ceremony on the wedding day. Do you have a venue coordinator that has experience with weddings that could help run the rehearsal?

I don't really have a venue coordinator, but I have my aunt who will most likely be "directing" the wedding. She is doing my flowers and has directed weddings before

Maybe she could help and then the morning of the wedding if you have time you could do a mini rehearsal with your officiant if you are worried.
