Registry/gifts

Curious on others thoughts… we don’t want to do a registry as we have everything we need. I already have full 16 place setting China set. All the house items we need, etc. there simply isn’t anything that we want. We would prefer to do a “no gifts please” wedding, however my mom feels that’s a little on the rude side. I don’t really see how it’s rude I guess, but am open to hearing others’ thoughts.

We aren't giving our guests the option of gifts and did no registry, either.

However, we did create a Honeymoon Fund via Go Fund Me (best rates, honestly, versus Honeymoon Fund websites and you get your money within a few days of each donation) so people can donate what they want in lieu of buying a gift. We have a website link on our Registry tab of our wedding website and we will have a QR code to scan at the entry table at our reception.

Maybe something like that would be a better idea for you?

    Hope it helps!

If someone really wants to give you a gift they will and often times if there is not any guidance/a registry or honeymoon fund you ll end up with some very random and often personalized non returnable items. Will you be having a bridal shower because if so I definitely recommend having a small gift registry. In my circle the wedding gifts are usually monetary in a card but the registry is used for pre wedding gifts such as shower or engagement gifts. Ultimately do what feels right for you and your partner. Best of luck to you!

Agree with Rosebud. Any items you would love to upgrade? That’s what we ended up doing for our registry since we technically had all essentials, but wanted better ones. Got ourselves some nice Le Creuset that way. While you will still have some people go off-registry (we still had some do that) guidance for those that want to do physical gifts helps cut down on the useless stuff you’ll be tempted to pitch. Some people also include camping or traveling gear as well. I put a nice Eagle Creek backpack on there and our male friend was like “yeah I’m not a kitchen gadget guy so when I saw you added that, I got it because that felt like a gift I myself would definitely give someone!”
